Tasting a few times after opening the bottle is beneficial, it is less closed and less austere; more accessible. He immediately reveals his palette of flavors. A recognizable, typical Littlemill, and very good; but this time it does not reach the 90 according to my personal criteria.

(Changed rating from 90 to 89)
    • Nose
Indeed, the nose is more open than during the previous tasting. Vanilla malt, herbaceous freshness, cherry plum, nectarine, and apricot. A slight drought of straw.
    • Taste
As a starter, citrus acidity sets in; followed by apple peel. Salty green tea. A touch of vanilla apricot.
    • Finish
Pretty short. The freshness of green tea goes up in the nose. A woody drought sticks to the palate. The fruits die quickly, however.

Great mouthfeel, unfortunately it becomes a bit too dry for my taste in the finish

Classic Littlemill, a tad more on the greener/grassy-side rather than on tropical fruits.

Littlemill 26 yo 1988/2014 (52.7%, Liquid Treasures, bourbon hogshead, 147 bottles) Erm, another 1988, this should be close. BTW, this one was approx 60% cheaper than the DL when it came out. Just saying. Colour: pale gold. Nose: obviously very similar, but maybe a tad steelier, more mineral, and a wee notch more leathery. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same whisky. With water: in my experience Littlemill is prone to saponification, so let’s wait. Zzzz… No, it swims a little better than the DL. Fresh almonds, Alep soap (poor Alep), grass… Mouth (neat): same whisky, almost and foremost. Perhaps a little more on oranges and a little less on mangos. Splitting hairs. With water: orange wine, ratafia, not-too-sweet limoncello… Finish: long, clean, zesty, Littlemill. Comments: swims a little better, so one more point. Great Littlemill if you like very zesty malts. SGP:651 - 90 points.

Nose: Floral. A slight ethereal layer. Malty dust. Palate: Spicy, woody and fruity. Verdict: First, this Littlemill is closed and austere, I find it difficult to find the markers of this distillery. On the other hand, it opens with time and requires a lot of time to reveal itself. After ½ hour, it becomes a bomb and markers appear. You have to be patient, it's not a dram to drink in two minutes. 86/100 at the beginning of dram, 90/100 after aeration. And as more was the opening of the bottle, in my opinion it will really show its potential a few weeks after opening.
