it is a solid malt not no less
a dram if you do not want to think much
    • Nose
neat oak (old, a bit stewed), very spicy, a little bit spicy, dried herbs, minimal smoke, preserving gum, malt
later comes good sherry, nutty notes, a flower meadow and an extotic fruit (papaya?)
    • Taste
      full on the palate
tart, soft licorice, light pepper, oak, raisin, minimal smoke
      later comes dark caramel
    • Finish
      medium long
starts to bite, bitter becomes more, astringent, dark chocolate, slightly earth, oak, sherry, easily tobacco

  2. davidloosli scored this whisky 73 points Expert Junior

    Too sweet
    • Nose
A lot of sweetness, apple, marzipan, a light acidity (milk?)
    • Taste
Sweet malt, apple, apple juice, a touch from the sea
    • Finish
The immense sweetness overlaps the wood from the barrel almost completely, perfumy, some acidity towards the end

  3. Rosebank88 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Starts heavy, creamy, fudge, light raisins, oak, aromatic summer honey and in the background spicy reflexes of pepper and pimple. Milk chocolate and sweet chocolates.
    • Taste
Beautiful oily onset, spicy oak, pepper, wet hay, allspice, light roasted aromas, then chocolates after Toffifee, grape nut chocolate and a hint of smoke.
    • Finish
Long, tart, walnuts, tobacco, slightly chocolate and sherrytönig.

  4. MY MALTS scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

The nose is dominated by a valerian-like scent ... On the palate, the valerian disappears, and you can taste peppery caramel flavors ... Departure is rather short, but pleasant sweet woody ... Not bad ... but had somehow expected more ...

    No. I regret to try.
    • Nose
      Vanilla, citrus, metal.
    • Taste
      Alcohol, citrus. Very sharp.
    • Finish
      Medium long, alcoholic. Warm.

This was a gift off my wife, yes it's in a fancy bottle and yes it's in a rip off 50cl and yes it's over priced, would I buy it? Probably not, doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it.

At the end of the day it's all down to taste and I quite enjoyed this, it's not fantastic by any stretch but I don't think it deserves all the flack it gets.
    • Nose
Those mixed bags of nuts and raisins you get at market's, dates, honey, toffee, bran cereal and brown bread.
    • Taste
It almost has a brown ale taste to it, some light spicy notes, cough sweet, toffee, some fudge and golden syrup. It's really quite smooth and goes down rather well.
    • Finish
A medium finish with fudge and caramel, it is sort of level all the way.

A surprising character. The tastes and smells are well integrated and play off of each other well.
    • Nose
Sweet smoke, dunnage, dried papaya, dry lemon peel, soft smoked vanilla, cinnamon, rum cake, stout, and maple syrup
    • Taste
Floral chocolate (daffodil), sweet peat and bitter honey, hot chocolate, sherried fruits, lemon peel
    • Finish
Vegetative savory (capers or olives), autumn leaves, and leaf fire.

N- Malty sweet, stiff oily wood fragrant. Nutty, grapefruits with sour citrus. P- Nutty, oily, salted almond and somehow perfume-y. Quite heavy on
body with excessive of restrain salt and sweet interplay, feel sort of
    cloying overtimes.

F- Medium length, dried fruits with thin layer of new leather, new wood arise with thin substance.
