    A really interesting dram and one that changes over time if you let it open up. It is quite a complex dram but you have to spend time with it and really search into the depths of what it has to offer. 

    If you love a sherry whisky, then you love Abunadh. 
    • Nose
      Be careful with the strength, as the nose is very lively. Dried fruits, candied fruits, nuts, grassy notes oils and old wood.
    • Taste
      Chocolate, nuttiness and fruit cake. The sweetness from cooked fruit (stewed plums or maybe prunes). This can take a lot of water. The water brings out the wood notes, oranges and enhances the sherry hit.
    • Finish
      Even with a lot of water, the finish is long and sherry all the way!

      N: il caro, vecchio sherry monster: nonostante la gradazione, l’alcol non respinge, piuttosto al massimo pare ‘chiudere’ leggermente, ma non fraintendiamoci – siamo comunque in un contesto di grandissima intensità. Sembra tutto bello ‘appiccicoso’: frutti di bosco lasciati a macerare nell’alcol, liquore alla ciliegia; cioccolato (proprio il mon cheri); caramello, chips di mele; confetti. Sembra molto ‘dolce’, e il malto è praticamente seppellito. Un senso caldo di legna tagliata, al sole, ed anche un che di mentolato, erbaceo, eucalipto. Con acqua, si apre decisamente un fronte agrumato (arancia, marmellata di) e finalmente esce bene il malto-Aberlour, bello biscottoso.
    • Taste
      P: senz’acqua è veramente estremo, e l’intensità è esplosiva, e l’alcol si impone con un sottofondo di note piccantissime e mentolate, piuttosto imponenti sulle prime. Frutta rossa e cioccolato, ma c’è anche un deciso ritorno di un malto biscottato e legno – infatti non è poi così dolce come ci aspettavamo. Con acqua, si fa più maltoso e anche un po’ più ‘amaro’: cresce il cioccolato fondente, crescono le note erbacee. Tante le spezie: chiodi di garofano uber alles.

      F: soprattutto con acqua, si dilungano le note più maltate e quelle più amaricanti, tra cioccolato fondente, tannini e un mero senso di frutta rossa.

      Strong sherry nose. Prune, figs, orangey notes, dried fruits, a bit of varnish.
    • Taste
      Punchy, sweet, fruity and spicy. Caramel, candied fruits and wood strawberries. Coffee and chocolate notes.
    • Finish
      Long, spicy, drying.

    A hot, dark, fiery mess ... a few months of oxidization and adding lots of water does almost nothing.
