Whisky Reviews for Springbank 12-year-old

- I did a tasting on another bottle - more punchy but also a bit more leafy - I would not call it great but rather okayish
Green fruits, carambole, a bit leafy too, old books, whiffs of cardboard
Pretty punchy, again some green fruits and hints of grass, peppery, hints of vanilla
Long and warm
- Pleasant and pretty smooth and drinkable. On the picture it looks actually rather pale straw but in fact it is more deep golden.
- I like it a lot, it's the waxiness that makes this one more than just good. Compared head-to-head to two other 12-year-olds from the same era (Jug ID 68577 and 100 Proof 57373) it couldn't compete at all though. In that context it's just a bit too 'normal'.
Fresh citrus, pear, almond, peach, mango and vanilla. Quite grassy as well. Then marshmallow. Some beeswax which gets stronger after a few minutes, and eventually an ashy touch of peat.
An oily tropical fruitiness, such as mango and papaya. More peat. Almond, straw, pepper, lemon, vanilla and a little beeswax. Something floral as well.
Apricot, pear, vanilla, caramel, orange and a little beeswax. Then chestnut. The peat gets a bit more prominent, but never becomes really dominant.
