Great PL ratio, young, modern malt from good cask. Summery-fruity and bright. Nice!
    • Nose
Beautiful, direct moisture with initially strong alcoholic touch. Ripe apple, plum, vineyard peach, mirabelles and Armagnac. Light, young, immediate sherry. Some malt and rose water, subtle vanilla, very yummy and sweet.
    • Taste
Strong, sparkling and sweet, but not too young. Pretty ingenious mouthfeel, getting creamier with time. Strong honeydew at the beginning, then grainy and drier, astringent and fogging the mouth. Very nice sweet-dry impressions, maple syrup, cotton candy, bright fruits and slightly wooden barrel in the background, which is noticeable by nutmeg and pepper. Honey again and ripe mirabelles.
    • Finish
Medium-long and peppery, tongue stays foggy for a little longer. Very subtle dryness and more creamy sweetness, with a swab of bitterness, but only very little. Oh, and there are strawberries, ripe, beautiful strawberries, as a last greeting.

A great, tasty malt. For a good price.
    • Nose
Is something else. My first thought was, chewed chocolate chocolates stuffed with strawberry brandy. Then sherry and a light honey note.
    • Taste
Immediately, the chocolate strawberry brandy praline is here. A fruity sweetness is spreading. Creamy mouthfeel that gets slightly dry on the palate.
    • Finish
Medium to long. The fruit note stays.

Dry sherry and dried fruits. Lots of strawberry chocolate. Hints of blood orange with cinnamon. Warm honey and vanilla. Wet wood.

Creamy with a distinctive honey sweetness. Lots of strawberries. Sugared lemon peel and honeyed ginger. A bit youthful around the edges.

Medium to long. Drying and creamy with a fruity sweetness. Dried orange slices with nutmeg.

All in all this is a cracking dram, despite its young age. I really like the creamy dry sherry in combination with the honeyed fruit sweetness. However I think I would have liked this bottling at cask strength a little better.

For this price (just under 40 €) a very interesting and good malt.

A blend of fruity sweetness and dry sherry, simply stunning in the nose.

For just 7 years Fassreif a wonderful Malt!
