  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

I've always wondered why Glenmorangie doesn't release more of these vintage beauties. The very few I have tasted so far were always very quaffable. This one doesn't disappoint either.
    • Nose
Wow, starts with lots of beehive notes, pollen and paraffin. Followed with juicy tropical fruitiness of mango, ripe peach, lychee and papaya. Roasted chestnuts and walnut skin as well. Light hints of verbena. Touch of cedar wood at the background. Excellent!
    • Taste
The palate remains syrupy, sweet and fruity. Apricots, bananas and dried coconut. Also tangerines and orange zest developing into grapefruit bitterness. Clover honey and some custard powder. Cinnamon pastry. Resinous notes, but not in the mouth-drying way.
    • Finish
Medium long with vanilla, ginger and a little clove. Soft pine at the end. Well balanced Glenmorangie. Very special.

watch out, WhiskyCumbria is rating not as the highest, owning a bottle and selling one here. A classic!

    A creamy body.
    • Nose
      Very fruity and sweet.
    • Taste
Very clean toffee and vanilla, developing to nuttiness and remarkable  dry fruitiness. Great length.
    • Finish
Astonishingly lean and winey. Full of fruity, winey, spicy flavours. Very lively. Long aftertaste.

[October, 1998]  I had this dram during a tasting at Kyrburg.  In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this dram 90.  My notes state that the nose is very complex and adorable.
