    Re taste
This leaves your mouth fresh, similar to a minty note.

Older Royal Lochnagar is fuller in the body and more likely to be sherried, this is no exception.
The nose is a mixture of light fruit, a little peat, spice, cereal notes and milk chocolate.
The palate on this is pretty lively, plenty of spice, peat and fruit, basically what the nose indicated with pretty good balance, in fact it is better than that.
This is different Lochnagar, hinting at the older production methods, I like it, not the easiest malt, slightly rough and ready bit it has old style charm, what is not to like about that?

Very good and very balanced Lochnagar. Apologies: Royal Lochnagar.
    • Nose
Famer butter, citrus and oak. That is the essence of this nose and a
good one it is. Digging a bit deeper reveals more fruit. Peach and quince, but
also Granny Smith apples. Hints of nuts. Almonds in honey. Touch of smoke with
a salty edge, which is somewhat unexpected, but very nice!
    • Taste
Creamy on the palate as well. A nice balancing act between sweet and
bitter. Sweet from honey, nuts and fruit, bitter from the oak. Nice mix of
spices too: soft peppers, touch of star anise and liquorice. Again the smoky
edge is there, which I really like.
    • Finish
Wonderfully long, bittersweet and smoky finish.
