Tasted at Story Tellers: Tasting Whisky in January 2017 and at Whisky in Leiden 2018

Big thick sweet port body. Misses a bit complexity to make it really special.

    the nose was great
in the mouth still notes like rose wine, fruit, spices
but then alcohol marks and artificial flavors in the mouth
and on the palate soap, too bad

    maybe for whisky-cola?
    • Nose
      smells good
      sweet port with rainwater
      Seasoning: nutmeg
      a bit of salt
      potash
      red plum
it smells delicious, you would like to drink it
    • Taste
      uiih alcoholic start
      slightly artificial waxy aromas
      then seasoning and fruit
      gets soapy on the palate
      not good
      then something delicious
      then again not good bbrrrr
the mouth has failed altogether, too bad for the great nose
    • Finish
the missing notes are particularly prominent in the finish
      alcohol
      künstl.Noten
      Soap on the palate

Initially great nose that is promising much but
drawn back by slightly alcoholic notes and one of the worst palates in recent years

Nose surprisingly good, very promising. Typical sweet port wine notes, lots of plums, elderberries and ripe grapes then an impression of a rosé wine. Very good. But what a pity that these nice impressions are finalized by a short whiff of unpleasant bitter alcohol.

What a shock. This is the expression with the most severe difference between the nose and the palate for years. The very first impressions that came to my mind were "pleasant but somewhat cheap and unripe". After the good nose I was badly disappointed.
Artificial notes like plastic wrap combined with a little bit of soap and nutrasweet followed by better impressions like again roséwine. Some vanilla and a little bit of nice spices follow, rather unable to wash away the bad notes from the beginning. Before the second sip I felt disgust, sad to say but that was it.

A very young (3years and two days maybe) NAS whisky out of a bad production run filled in a mediocre refill bourbon cask that later was dumped over to finish it in a fresh port cask in an attempt to keep it saleable as a whisky. Still there are some quite good notes, fighting the plastic and the artificial sweetness that makes it hard to put this one down all the way.

Nice plums together with a little salt, fine spices, lots of artificial sweetness and the impressions of curd soap and plastic. I wished, the aftertaste had been much shorter and the soap and the plastic would have faded. Strangely, you get the feeling that this could have been a much better whisky than it actually is.

Actually a very nice, average malt. Tastes slightly artificial now and then. The nose is nice and balanced. All in all, not very complex. But at the price completely OK.
    • Nose

Fruity of ripe berries, plum compote, ripe bananas, raisins. Rose and red wine flavors.
Slight alcoholic note in the nose
    • Taste
      78 78
Light sweetness with a little vanilla and a slight spiciness.
Somehow something "over it", slightly artificial. What was pleasant in the smell, the taste is rather bland and
      uninteresting. Light alk. Sharpness.
    • Finish
      77 77
Sweet and fruity in the beginning, but also an artificial sweetener, turns into a light, fine spice.
      Is becoming increasingly dry

Hits the right spots...theoretically. Non chill filtered, 46%, tawny port (finish), very nice nose, but nothing great in the mouth... Unfortunately. Expected more :(
