Whisky Reviews for Ballantine's 18-year-old

- N: Woody herbal freshness showing through the usual blended qualities of Ballantine’s. A touch of sherry, chocolate and peat phenols, salt and pepper with hints of alium in a creamy, buttery, malty presentation. Very nice.
T: A herbal [Wrigley’s] chewing gum opening although its not so sweet, theres a lot of herbal - tea, nettle and comfrey to be exact, before it develops a milky and creamy body. Green leaves come to the fore with a touch of peat and malty/woody bitterness.
F: Touch of aniseed, then cocao/chocolate and then waves of vanilla cream. Leaves a creamy film on the palate like after drinking full fat milk. Just a suggestion of salt and vinegar with prawn cocktail [crisps] flavour.
C: Very good from start to finish. More than reminiscent of Hazelburn’s Rundletts and Kilderkins WB but not as intense. Very well blended [could possibly be a tad cloying]. Challenging blend for sure and rewarding with the odd murmur of ‘dad noises’ but not quite as noisy as the 17yo.
