A sensational Glenturret from the 80's, the best and most complete I have enjoyed so far. Very fruity, including a tropical side, but also these typical dusty and 'old' green notes I enjoy so much.
    • Nose
      92 92
Immediately fruity with lychees, pineapples, greengages and gooseberries. A both dusty 'old' and savoury (soy sauce) layer appears, before rhubarb, honey and a smell of gym shoe join the party. A venerable, lively and complex nose, very enjoyable!
    • Taste
      91 91
Fruity again, with lychee, apples, greengages and grapefuit. This is followed by spices like nutmeg and liquorice, and some salted caramel. It has a grassy and floral side too, with that not unpleasant aroma of nailpolish I encounter more often in well aged bourbon matured drams. The mouthfeel is thick and a bit sparkling.
    • Finish
      89 89
Melons, apples and citrus fruits, supplemented by some vanilla, rose water and wet wood. A hint of smoke lingers.

Another great Glenturret from the late eighties, another real fruit bomb.
    • Nose
      90 90
Very fruity and syrupy. Does remind of several late 80's Turret bottlings by Signatory, though this one is just a bit more on bitter citrus than on pure tropical sweetness and more spicy on wood. Ripe pear, peach, mango, slight pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, vanilla cake, cake glaze, honey, a bit waxy, icing sugar, nutmeg, mild ginger, some old wood dust.
    • Taste
      91 91
Great: a creamy mouthfeel, juicy, waxy, honey, sweet orchard fruits, ripe apple, pear, peach, dried apricot, pomelo, pineapple. Some drying wood spiciness with nutmeg, ginger and mild pepper.
    • Finish
      89 89
Fairly long: initially the juicy fruitiness from the taste, some honey, then quickly shifting to a lasting but still subtle wood bitterness.

promising nose and rather boring continuation, the dominance of wood ruined the overall impression
    • Nose
Fresh and open, honeycombs, some cinnamon, bananas, citruses and vanilla
    • Taste
Green lemons and wood, alcohol does not stick out but young wood sticks out strongly
    • Finish
continuation of taste, green fruits and wood, average duration

Complex and well matured whisky. I like it.
    • Nose
Wow! Intense fruity-sweet. First a lot of banana and honey. After the first sip he gets a bit haggard and shows oak. There are also subtle sour notes that remind me of tropical fruits. He remains very fruity throughout. Works on me mature and complex.
    • Taste
Very fragrant but not overcrowded. Perfectly suitable alcohol strength. Again, I first taste the banana with honey before the tropical fruits come with more acid around the corner. The palate is then surprisingly creamy and slightly creamy. Delicious!
    • Finish
Medium. Remains aromatic and is only slightly discreetly drier.

I was so excited by the nose, but as progressed to taste and finish it just got progressively worse.  Perhaps this is a Halloween whisky... trick or treat?
    • Nose
Cotton candy, white grape juice, ripe peaches, lots of Muesli (with tropical dried fruits), heavy cream, and a little sherry character. Dessert-like nose that is a unique mix and quite complex.
    • Taste
The mouth is oily and coats well, but is a total 180 from the nose.  It quickly turns savory with significant tannins.  Green plums, Malt-o-Meal with salted butter and sprinkling of cinnamon, and horse stable (mostly hay little poop).
    • Finish
Medium, a little sour and bitter (skin from the green plums), the Malt-o-Meal continues.

  24. MaltyMillionaire scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

A smooth operator, for the sweet tooth. Complex and deceptively weighty for a seemingly "lighter" whisky.
    • Nose
Grape juice, sweet wine, mild spice (nutmeg), cream, and sherry.  sweet, alluring nose.
    • Taste
Sweet, oily, and velvety arrival. Grape juice, fruit punch, mild spice, and honey.
    • Finish
Soft and smooth (not normally a descriptor I would associated with a good whisky, but for this I make an exception). Very soft tannins that linger into a honey-spice finish. Fades into a mild and pleasing bitterness.

Nose: turpentine, sugar beet syrup, sliced wholegrain bread, newspaper, wool, some stable. Reminds of Brora. Very complex, the individual flavors are difficult to separate. Very old-schooled. With a little water, flowery aromas are added, but the heavy aromas take a back seat. All in all a great variety of flavors. Body: Mouth-filling, oily, warming. Taste: The flavors are also found in the taste again. Very well matured malt! The alcohol shows up with a certain robustness. Voluminous. The influence of the barrel is difficult to estimate. The whisky remains oily until the end, no drying of the tongue recorded, no superficial wood or vanilla flavors. A whisky from the time before Wood Management. Finish: Medium long. Conclusion: A great barrel that Adelphi has pulled ashore!
