- http://www.weinkenner.de/2014/drei-whiskys-aus-dem-bourbonfass-von-der-gruenen-insel-34256/ Color: straw yellow
Nose: Green-flowery with mineral salt, gooseberries, quince, mirabelle, pineapple and creamy-sweet honey. But also with notes of straw and hay, creamy sweets and vanilla. After prolonged breathing, more and more intensive rubbers develop.
Taste: Sweet, but at the same time tart and salty. Pineapple juice, black pepper and getting saltier and saltier. Notes of a glowing fuse as well as of herbs, fir resin and sweet, ripe apples develop dominant towards the end of the taste.
Finish: Long - mineral-salty with aromas of white chocolate, vanilla, black tea, pine needles and tart peppermint leaves.
90 points (nose: 89 / taste: 90 / finish: 90)
- I haven't had many Irish whiskies so far. however, this one is of exceptional quality. I don't think there are many casks of 76 tomatins left in the warehouses so I am curious to find an alternative supply of fruity whiskies, glad I've found one
fruity, clean and slightly herbal
light and smooth almost silky. considering this dram is bottled straight from the cask at 50% abv that comes surprisingly (thanks to the triple distillation process:-)
... definitely the highlight, no doubt about it.
a stunning fruitiness driven by blackcurrant as the dominating flavor, love it!
