Pleasant young HP, but not outstanding. 85/86.

    • Taste
Powerful, sweet and spicy. Malt, forest fruits, citrusese, pepper and cocoa.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy, ashy.

    • Nose
      Vanilla caramel.
    • Taste
High ABV burns properly. After some drops of water it is very flat.
    • Finish
Long through the alcohol, further short finish.

    • Nose

  6. Loch Lochy scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

In the smell pleasantly fresh and lemony, but unspectacular. A little later honey follows and a little later wet wood. In the beginning sweet with honey-like notes and pepper. This is followed by ashes, lemons, chocolate and wood, as well as traces of dried apricots. The finish is mttellang and gentle, yet woody-bitter and somewhat leafy with traces of lemon peel.

Very drinkable whisky made from well-made spirit. But no wow-factor for me either.

Tasted with Whiskyclub Spakenburg on 24th of January 2015
    • Nose
Green apples, lemon, grapefruit, fresh plain bread, sweet popcorn and butterscotch.
    • Taste
Sweet and fairly straight-forward. A little fruity but mostly malt.
    • Finish
Short and dry with a smoky touch.

  8. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Tasted with Whiskyclub Spakenburg Around Scotland - Island hopping 01-2015
    • Nose
fudge, spices - pepper, smoke and with water sweet popcorn
    • Taste
tasty, not complex with smoke, vanilla and fruits
    • Finish
drying with vanilla, wax, honey and ashes

  9. KayMeertens scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    A nice young Highland Park.
    • Nose
Lime wine gum, vanilla sugar, caramel, marshmallow, ash and apple. With water more caramel. In the nose the influence of the bourbon casks is bigger than the Highland Park profile, although the latter is also still clearly present.
    • Taste
Lime, caramel, raspberry, light peat, orange, apple, white chocolate, grapefruit and pepper.
    • Finish
Caramel, lime, peat, milk chocolate and grapefruit.

  10. Jimjam scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Not overly complex but packed full of flavour and aroma, all of which are extremely pleasant. Swims well (in fact needs water). On paper it's quite young at 9 years, but it's taken a lot from an obviously very good first-fill bourbon cask
    • Nose
Honey. Hay. Heather? (Or is that association?) Creme brulee. Hint of smoke. Battenburg cake. Orchard fruits: apple and pear
    • Taste
Malt, honey, vanilla, light peat smoke
    • Finish
      Spice, and medium-long, as Taste

  11. Magnus Hillman scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

It's uncomplicated, simple and so well balanced. I have had much older whiskies that have tasted younger than this one. This is so well balanced and no sign of young barley spirit that hasn't been well integrated with the cask.

    (Rating interval 86-90)
    • Nose
Vanilla, honey, mild peat smoke and complex herbal notes.
    • Taste
Salted caramel, vanilla, aniseed, fennel, peat smoke and some fresh pears. Water brings more pears and green apples to the flavor.
    • Finish
The zip ends up with salt licorice, peat smoke, licorice confectionary and chili pepper.
