Was a blind sample, my tip was a Glengoyne 25-30 years, about 50%, sherry barrel ..... but with this Benriach I can live well :-)
    • Nose
      92 92
full, voluminous, sherry, caramelized fruits, dark spices, chocolate, Christmas biscuits, light wood, Port Honey, slightly fleshy, beeswax, candy sugar
      Very harmonious nose!
    • Taste

nice approach, alcohol for the power, incredibly round and harmonious, wood becomes clear, slight bitterness, espresso, tobacco
    • Finish
      90 90
long, strong barrel, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, cappuccino

    Degustated blind
Nose: which reminds me of some modern rum with a nice freshness and a big gluttony (raisin, ripe plum, chocolate ...) all sprinkled with spices (Sichuan long pepper)
Mouth: we first find the spices in force (fresh ginger) then the greed resurfaces (kale of conspicuous fruit and vanilla).
We then go on nuts (almond and walnuts) and it becomes more bitter (dark chocolate)
Finish: long and hot with hints of fruit that rise to the surface
Conclusion: A beautiful sherry that does not have a trace of sulfur to drink for fun!

    A very beautiful sherry
    • Nose
A nice and delicate sherry: chocolate and cocoa, precious woods, dried fruits (grapes, dates and prunes) and some nuts. I like it.
    • Taste
It's clearly in continuity. Surely more power and wood and spices are more pronounced. Some caramel, hazelnuts and a touch of red fruits. Very good
    • Finish
Long and creamy. Some nice honey notes.

Sherry! Wonderful! Sweet, grapes, nuts, earthy dark fruits, raisins, after all the fruityness there are herbs, some light pepper, just a perfect dram! And I was lucky, found this for a really reasonable price three years after the bottling

    Colour: Amber.

Smell: A balanced, full, seductive and complex whisky with aromas of dried stone fruits, lush sherry, leather, beeswax, antique polish, varnish, caramel, fudge, dark honey, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, sweet sulphur, red apples, mocha, coffee liquor, rosewood, cedar wad, oak, pear, mineral tones, tobacco, floral tones, malt, muesli, dried lemon peels, earthy tones, apricots, armagnac, star anise, balsamic and rich creamy oak.

Taste: A rich, full, powerful, sweet and complex whisky with aromas of lush sherry, dried fruits (figs, dates, plum, apricot) nectarines, appel, pear, oranges, grapefruit, dark honey, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, caramel, bitter tannins, coffee, bitter (+80%) chocolate, licorice, rosewood, dry oak, sweet tobacco, pepper, ginger, almonds, green walnuts, lemon curd, marmite, smoked ham, molasses, antique polish, was, dried cherries, apple pie, soy and spicy oak.

Finish: A long and dry finish with aromas of bitter tannins, dry sherry, tutti-frutti, cinnamon, pepper, cloves, rosewood, ginger, oranges, licorice, and firm old oak.

Conclusion: A very dense, lush and complex whisky that really needs some time in the glass to open up. The lush sherry is well balanced and the complexity of this dram keeps surprising you with different flavours every time you come back to it.

A great whisky that I can wholeheartedly recommend.
