Bottler: MALTS OF SCOTLAND
Expansion: Sherry barrel # 12017
Region: Islay, Scotland
Nose: Fruity, really elegant fruit aromas with a slightly smoky spice. I think of plum jam first, then limes and strawberries, old leather and a little pepper. Then a touch of ash - wonderfully round.
Palate: The fruit notes are still there, but have been relegated to the background by the peppery peat smoke. White pepper, sea salt, grilled fish and ash are in the foreground, followed by coffee, seaweed and dark chocolate.
Finish: very long, dry and quite salty. A lot of oak, next to it pepper and chilli, some grapefruit.
Conclusion: Great Port Ellen!
