Whisky Reviews for Ardbeg Uigeadail
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.95 points
- Uigeadail was first released in 2003 as a cask-strength addition to Ardbeg's existing range. It takes its name from Gaelic, which roughly translates as ‘dark and mysterious place.’ It is also the name of one of the lochs that supply the distillery with its distinctive, peaty water used in the processes of whisky making.Uigeadail contains a proportion of relatively youthful spirit, distilled under the Glenmorangie regime at Ardbeg and matured in ex-bourbon casks, together with older, sherry-wood-matured whisky that Glenmorangie inherited in 1997. Uigeadail was Ardbeg’s first no age statement (NAS) release in what became a succession of them, so much so that NAS malts now comprise much of what Ardbeg does.
Intensely smoky. Dry, clean, tangy smoke.
Firm, very smooth, then explodes on the tongue.
