    • Nose
    • Taste
P: che schianto! Anzitutto, generalmente parlando, batte l’altro 3-0 in quanto a sapore.

Overall, a very high quality, as I am no longer used by a Ardbeg lately rather. For me, a completely different league as the NAS bottlings, which were offered in recent years by the still itself!
    • Nose
Starts with aromas of cold smoke. Smoked bacon and citrus aromas are added. A clear medical touch reminds me more of another southern coastline of Islay. Everything is accompanied by slightly sweet oak flavors, whereby the high alcohol strength always remains present.
    • Taste
In addition to a smoky and peaty woody wort, I immediately find a nice caramel sweetness - but also a salty edge! Then I increasingly gain the impression that I'm walking through a pine forest with a honey-sweet in my mouth!
    • Finish
Relatively long with a smoky and creamy sweetness. Butter biscuit in burning gauze bandage?

    • Nose
Wooh, almost like smelling a really good tequila. And a nice ashtray filled with cigars. It’s slightly medical, and some thyme (!).
    • Taste
Salty and herbal, a little peaty and really full of “attack”. It’s a little grassy, in a very tequila-kind-of-way. I would have never thought this was a whisky at first zip. Some wet, burnt wood.
    • Finish
More peaty now than anything, slightly herbal and offers some Granny smith apples in the finish. The last feeling that left me was the liquorice notes, but a sweeter one than in the nose.

  4. ARDBERG scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

It really needs time in the open bottle. After opening it was a quite disappointing 84,
after almost 3 months in the open bottle with about half of the contents remaining,
it went straight to 90 after five months to 92 - then the bottle was empty:-(

    Cadenhead’s own notes:
Nose: Soft faint smoke on the nose! Walking along a sandy beach, some weetabix or is that ground oats?? .
Palate: Much bigger than the nose gives away! Big robust and peaty tones across the whole palate, Wet slate and burning wet wood, charcoal embers ashy tones.
Finish: Burnt newspaper ash, then a rather good burst of lemon bonbons, nice sweetness balancing with the rich peaty tones one would expect.
