Whisky Reviews for Bruichladdich 1992 stca

Thanks David for the sample, meat is being cured to make it last, that's how I feel right now.
    • Nose
If you rub a few drops of the malts in your hand, the Matjes association comes here immediately ... as if you had just eaten / had a fish sandwich in your hand.

I can not smell it in the glass itself. Here he seems rather fruity. After some time in the glass, it is clear for me sugared pineapple that dominate here.
    • Taste
Immediately you have forgotten the fish roll and now thinks you have licked a salt stone. Insanely salty and then bitter. No trace of the nose.
    • Finish
Again, no trace of fruitiness. The malt remains in the mouth just salty and really musty back.

  2. Hemdl scored this whisky 50 points Connoisseur

This malt is now just because of the curious finishes a little legend among the malts. I am glad that I had the opportunity to try it. But that's all there is to it, because it does not really taste. Even if you include a few "curiosities and mute points", the taste remains a "no go".
    • Nose
In fact, already in the nose clear traces of salt, I had not expected so. In addition, clear sherry notes, caramel and some sweet honey.
The longer one deals with the malt, the more "normal" he appears. The sherry pushes forward, a pleasant, sweet-fruity potpourri determines the nose. So far a surprisingly pleasant Bruichladdich.
    • Taste
It takes a while, but then the finish in the herring barrel inevitably strikes. Phew, now it is actually exhausting. Incredibly salty and slightly bitter, the facial muscles dance tango. For a moment, the sweetness of the nose is briefly perceptible, then only salty, bitter and slightly musty.
I already had a lot in the glass by now, but that is really a novelty.
    • Finish
Here, the experience continues like a red thread. Bitter, salty, somehow spoiled. Like chewing on rotten wood that was previously salted.

This is part of 2 bottles of Bruichladdich, bottled by Klaus Pinkernel from Cadenhead Berlin.

This one is finished for 3 months in a herring cask and is extremely salty.

This Bruichladdich was distilled in 1992, just before it closed down. Because it was casked in 'old wood', Klaus decided to transfer his whisky in a sherry cask. Half of the cask was being put in a herring cask for 3 months, and is named 'Fishky'

This is a nice Bruichladdich with some salt in the nose, but the taste and the finish are very, very salty. Because of the salt this is one to finish the evening  83p.
