Whisky Reviews for Port Charlotte 2004 CC

9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.29 points

  1. Albaron scored this whisky 81 points Specialist

Sherry? Where only? An immature whisky, not my cup of tea, would have had to stay in the barrel for a long time or would have been good for a finish in my opinion. There are certainly connoisseurs who like this, unfortunately I do not.
    • Nose
Dry smoke, sour, lemon, menthol, not completely germinated grain, immature, a little creamy and vanilla, cookie dough
    • Taste
Malty, creamy, also the cookie dough, then the dry smoke, menthol, strong alcohol, very warm
    • Finish
the alcohol swings strongly, also a bit smoke and also clearly tannins, but everything quickly away

  3. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Tasty, smoke and barrel and play together nicely, but for 70 € you could also spend strength.
    • Nose
At first glance, neither sherry nor smoke are overpowering, there is orange sweetness, honey, mead, with a slightly sour note, as well as strong, but not penetrating smoke, a hint of horse stable the sweet, the smoke is dry, bitter vegetable, but in a few centimeters distance it is snug again round, sweetish, fruity (orange, canned peach, sweet apple) with warm horse stable
    • Taste
round and sweet, orange gummy, milk chocolate, ant cake, with fat, well integrated smoke, later dark chocolate, earth, pepper
    • Finish
long, warm, fat, bittersweet, dark chocolate, burnt cake, pepper, a touch of spilled plastic

  5. KayMeertens scored this whisky 86 points Specialist

    • Nose
Peat, malt, citrus, orange, salt and minerals. Somewhat farmy in the long run.
    • Taste
Peat, lemon, malt, apple and plastic. Perhaps a little pastry.
    • Finish
Peat, orange, apple, dark chocolate, apple and white asparagus.

  6. Rom scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

Makes more think of Ledaig than Laphroaig, peat on smoke, ash, greenery, almond. Aeration and dilution bring more greed by making emerge caramel and praline. The attack is sweet then come a powerful peat and smoke, green anise. Touch is a thicker than An Turas Mor for the same degree. Final rather long on the ash. More complex and greedy than the An Turas Mor, more mature, but it remains far from competing with the best in the PC series.

  7. mikespike scored this whisky 90 points Expert Junior

This is a very pleasant dram. Especially the aftertaste, stays with you for a long time, peaty, rich, meaty...well balanced malt, as usually seen for these peaty Bruicladdichs. High quality and a few bucks well invested. Currently (May2015) still available for around 65 bucks, well invested money in my opinion.

  8. Toffie76 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Ash, phenolic, dry peat. Acute. Austere hair. Olive oil. Finish dry, bitterness fine and persistent.

  9. Bishlouk did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

It's very peaty, which is not my favorite profile. Technically it is well done, but just not to my taste. I prefer not to rate this kind of whisky; the rating would not reflect its (good) intrinsic quality.
    • Nose
Powerful, unidirectional on the big fat peat, almost cheese. Swirls of ash smoke and farmy scents.
    • Taste
The peat is heavy in the mouth, on bold and heady accents of smoke, straw and mud.
    • Finish
Average. The rear mouth reveals a sweet little sweetness, drowned in the straw always present.
