  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Dark-hearted Laddie with nice dry notes, a little bit of variety only.
    • Nose
Fresh coffee beans, sour bitter, with chestnut, cherry, slightly roughened leather, liquorice, oak chestnut, oregano, thyme
    • Taste
Lots of cocoa, old oak, leather, cherry, bitter orange, raisins, nutmeg, some cumin, camphor, tobacco, coffee beans
    • Finish
Dry savory, leather, dried raisins and herbs, coffee, long

A good quality laddie but the sherry swamps the distillery character for me.

Very enjoyable all said and done.
    • Nose
Fruit peels, currants, coffee, mulled wine and the obvious sherry.

There is also a little orange, caramel and honeycomb
    • Taste
There is a bitter sweet fight on the tongue at first but the sweetness wins

All the usual sherry bomb flavours are her, dark fruits, balsamic glaze, and some syrup and dark toffee with a little maple syrup.
    • Finish
Medium length and sweet to the end.

Handfilled at the distillery in June 2014 during the Whiskybase tour. I have to admit that I rated it 90+ when I had this dram for the first time at the premises of Bruichladdich. When I re-taste this at home, I detect sulphur notes which I didn't taste earlier. Probably has to do something with the (emotion of the) location of tasting..... It seems that this is a sort of a 'love or hate it' whisky among my whisky friend geeks.
    • Nose
Dried fruits of figs, dates and apricots. Also blackberry jam. Raisins. Coffee. Dark chocolate. Leather and Tobacco. Roasted nuts. Hints of sweet sherry at the background (which in reality is Chateau l 'Atour finish).
    • Taste
Rich and round with earthy notes. Lots of plums. Raspberries and cherries. Sour oranges too. Very syrupy. Kirsch liqueur. Some balsamco vinegar as well. Sulphur at the background, but well present.
    • Finish
Long. Nutmeg. Cinnamon. Mocha. Taninns at the end.

Pretty good nose but very disturbing sulphur notes in the taste. Almost undrinkable for me. Tasted this whisky on several occasions.
