    Nose: red fruit, wood. After some time in the glass and rest, you get a nice fruity mulled wine
    Mouth: Alcohol on the tongue (strange for 48%), which is immediately replaced by fruit and then by wood. Tongue is then dry again pretty quickly and ... Departure: leave behind a pleasant woody taste (compare the taste "in the air" after sawing a lot of wood and going into the room the next day). For a non-smoky whisky the finish is passably long, if somehow "Weinig-dry". If you like dry red wines, you should definitely use them here.

    Nose: slightly dusty, malt and toffee, glucose, blueberries, raspberries, dark honey, light alcohol and snappy oak. Very sweet and fruity with spicy tops.
    Taste: full and creamy, very spicy with pepper and ginger, only with time comes back some honey and sour berry fruits. After swallowing the spice is dominant again (now with some cinnamon), dry grape sweetness and a touch of chocolate are also included. It remains a very dry mouth which is covered with a lot of oak flavor.
    I must honestly say that I needed something to deal with that but the great mixture of fruit, spicy oak and dry wine notes I like better and better from sip to sip.

    A bit of a difficult
    balancing act, I think, but in the end it all turns out nice. Around 120 EUR,
    which I do not find cheap.
    • Nose
      The nose is creamy
      and sweet. Very sweet in fact. Apples and all kinds of red fruits: strawberry,
      raspberry, cherries, but also some rum-raisins. Loads of toffee. Acacia honey.
      Some ginger and a pinch of cinnamon. Reminds me somewhat of cognac. I like it.
    • Taste
      It starts somewhat
      sour on the palate, but recuperates quickly. Very spicy on cloves, cinnamon,
      white pepper and ginger. Some liquorice as well. The fruit – which consists
      mostly of raspberries, but some plums and oranges quickly kick in – does
      struggle to get past the wine. But then it finds its second wind and turns
      wonderfully sweet. Hints of milk chocolate.
    • Finish
      The finish is long
      and spicy but it remains sweet until the death.

    Character: This filling is sweet-sour and spicy at the same time. The texture is relatively clear and the body rather light despite the stately 48%. In the overall view a very fine, quite interesting and dangerously good drinkable malt. Friends of red wine barrel storage are sure to get their money. Nevertheless, there is a small flaw for me: the filling somehow vanishes relatively fast, without leaving a lasting impression. Reflexively, I would like to hold this drop just a little longer and can grab. Rating: Wine meets oak sweet and sour. The red wine barrels know how to convince by a fine elegance and ensure bring a beautiful juicy-dry fruitiness into the glass. No bottling, which burns emphatically into the brain, but a convincing round thing. For me that makes a good 87 points today and after two tries .

      Basic flavors: fruits (light), citrus notes, dried fruits, malt, sweetness, chocolate, vanilla *, Note: * = little Description: An English fruit cake with orange peel, lemons and currants meets malt and bright, fresh fruits. With all this, a slightly acidic undertone resonates, the experienced noses certainly already provides a first indication that a wine barrel is also involved. The more time I take to smelt, the clearer the grapes are and the slightly sweetish chocolate and delicate vanilla in the background complete the sweet and sour interplay of the aromas.
    • Taste
      Basic flavors: sweetness, spice, fruits (red), oak, nuts Description: Slightly creamy, the drop hits the tip of the tongue. The first taste is surprisingly sweet at first. Then flickers a pleasant spiciness, which reminds me of a mixture of white pepper and ginger. Quite quickly, but then take the wine flavors back into command. A mix of ripe, lightly fermented grapes, cherries and strawberries mingles with a rather restrained approaching oak. In the transition to the finish, it is always tastier dry and somehow again nutty-spicy. The body of this bottling is rather easy with all this.

      Basic flavors: sweetness, fruits (red), oak, coffee, cocoa Description: The finish is medium-long, sweetish-vinous and dry. The oak and the grapes sound pleasant and at the end the impression of espresso and dry, tart cocoa powder remains on the palate.

    This Glen Garioch is a real bunch of flavors. The strong-malty character of the Highland distillery meets in the most pleasant way the aromas of the Bordeaux red wine barrels made of European oak. The alcohol forms a strong but never intrusive edging for this flavor playground. And to stay a little bit clichéd: The Bordeaux barrels actually provide a very own elegance and aromas complexity for this Highlander.
    • Nose
      The first impression: A Glen Garioch maltiness meets the fine red wine aroma, underlaid with marjoram and autumn foliage. The 48% provide a fine freshness; the longer Verriechen then also report ripe apricots and cherries.
    • Taste
      In the mouth this malt comes full sweet with dark fruits and nice spice. Later also announce fine ginger sharpness and delicate oak aroma. Finally, the wine comes through, but very discreet and underlaid with sherry sweetness.
    • Finish
      In the finish, the game of fruit notes with the herbs and the sharpness continues. Now the oak becomes a bit stronger, but never (too) dominant.

    I tasted the Whisky Festival 2017. The style that I enjoy. Very good whisky. Of those few Glen Gariochs we tasted, I was more interested in Glen Garioch 15 yo Sherry Cask Matured in the barrel.
    • Nose
      Candy candy, Bari almonds. Spice, a little scent, and then deeper, more acidic and sweeter heavier fruit scents. The aroma is full, rich and fun. (87 b)
    • Taste
      It tastes like a prominent sherry of barrels, but the spicy acrylic ending suggests that it is a barrel of red wine. In the flavor it gradually becomes very dry. (89 b)
