The nose is very fine, but the palate is not very balanced as I often find the case with red wine casks. Not my type of whisky, and the typical Glen Garioch character is hardly recognisable in this one.
    • Nose
      85 85
Strawberry jam and chocolate, with some mint, cumin, cardboard, straw and the cheesy note I often encounter in Glen Gariochs.
    • Taste
      79 79
The red fruits (cherries) and chocolate battle with stale notes like wet dog, musty leaves, tannin, and a metal/plastic like note. I also get some oak spices (pepper and ginger), and a bit of vanilla. Mixed feelings!
    • Finish
      83 83
More vanilla now, with cacao, red fruits (redcurrants and strawberry) and bitter lemon. Som oak spices again and a clear hint of smoke.

Changed my mind about full-term red-wine maturations. This one really works!

Alcoholic nose quite balanced, the winey character comes out.
    • Taste
      91 91
Sweet intense tasty not too complex very balanced in contrast to the Renaissance 2016 Chapter 2 balanced ... very, very tasty. No burning, no stinging in the mouth. Alcohol perfectly integrated.
    • Finish

Not too long. But friendly pleasant.
      Great Glen Garioch ????.
      Perfect barrel aging.

Nose: red fruit, wood. After some time in the glass and rest, you get a nice fruity mulled wine
Mouth: Alcohol on the tongue (strange for 48%), which is immediately replaced by fruit and then by wood. Tongue is then dry again pretty quickly and ... Departure: leave behind a pleasant woody taste (compare the taste "in the air" after sawing a lot of wood and going into the room the next day). For a non-smoky whisky the finish is passably long, if somehow "Weinig-dry". If you like dry red wines, you should definitely use them here.

Nose: slightly dusty, malt and toffee, glucose, blueberries, raspberries, dark honey, light alcohol and snappy oak. Very sweet and fruity with spicy tops.
Taste: full and creamy, very spicy with pepper and ginger, only with time comes back some honey and sour berry fruits. After swallowing the spice is dominant again (now with some cinnamon), dry grape sweetness and a touch of chocolate are also included. It remains a very dry mouth which is covered with a lot of oak flavor.
I must honestly say that I needed something to deal with that but the great mixture of fruit, spicy oak and dry wine notes I like better and better from sip to sip.

    A bit of a difficult
balancing act, I think, but in the end it all turns out nice. Around 120 EUR,
which I do not find cheap.
    • Nose
      The nose is creamy
and sweet. Very sweet in fact. Apples and all kinds of red fruits: strawberry,
raspberry, cherries, but also some rum-raisins. Loads of toffee. Acacia honey.
Some ginger and a pinch of cinnamon. Reminds me somewhat of cognac. I like it.
    • Taste
      It starts somewhat
sour on the palate, but recuperates quickly. Very spicy on cloves, cinnamon,
white pepper and ginger. Some liquorice as well. The fruit – which consists
mostly of raspberries, but some plums and oranges quickly kick in – does
struggle to get past the wine. But then it finds its second wind and turns
wonderfully sweet. Hints of milk chocolate.
    • Finish
      The finish is long
and spicy but it remains sweet until the death.

Phew, almost too much of a good thing and that of someone who loves spicy things around food and hits everything with curry and chilli.
At the beginning you have to get used to it with a few drops. The first real sip is really nice, but the last one is already an overuse of the palate.
I'll only enjoy the rest in 10 ml puffs, then I'll get the best out of it for myself (or I'll dilute).
    • Nose
Very spicy, behind that comes the fruit aroma. Yes, at first sight the experienced whisky drinker immediately thinks "sherry", but no, that is different. For me, sherry often goes with cherries, this one is more of a mixture of mirabelle plums and strawberries.
    • Taste
Oh yes, at first already sweet, but is quickly covered by a very nice spice that almost exclusively turns into pepper.
    • Finish
The pepperiness fades slowly and becomes very slightly bitter.

      Musty, cellar notes, red fruits
    • Taste

Nice wine notes, cherries and other red fruits
    • Finish

      Oak, spicy notes, dry

    • Nose
      88 88
Sweet and fruity. Fully ripe strawberries, cloves, light caramel and oak.
    • Taste
      86 86
First sweet, then a bit sour and fruity. The strawberries, light red wine, a little white pepper and a very pleasant, warm oak note.
    • Finish
      84 84
      Medium long, dry and spicy.
There is nothing left of the creamy fruitiness, but the oak and the spices are clear.
