Pear-infused oak with lots of mellow wood spices, floral nectar, assorted boiled fruits, herbs, the smell that comes from the sap when you break the stem of a flower, a faint hint of smoke, elegant yet full and assertive malt, leather, pine tree sap and candied grapefruit.
Citrus, a bit of smoke, nuts, pine tree sap, candied grapefruit, earthy and nicely balanced oak.
Longish - mellow oak, light smoke, vanilla, pine tree sap, rich spices, baked apples and unburnt peat straight from the ground.
Medium-bodied. Very interesting flavour combinations and there's quite a bit of complexity going on as well. A very good Longmorn in my book!
N: Following on from the less than engaging Longmorn 11yo from McG WB, this is a bigger, broader dram - peppery, sherried, nice.
T: Liquorice/aniseed with a putty-maltiness. Lots of zest for life but after time it seems a little dull, balanced though. Dark, woody, muddy, maltiness
F: Malty/putty chocolate, balanced finish.
C: I initially had this down as ‘good yet dull’. but after a while i really started to ‘get into’ and enjoy this Longmorn. In the end it was most enjoyable and balanced, from start to finish - but don’t expect any fireworks.
