This longmorn from a 1st fill Sherry Butt is a real fruit bomb. Harmonious, mild and sweet on the nose and in the body, subtly dry on the finish. Great part!
    • Nose
The nose starts immediately with extremely fruit flavors. Dark red, fully ripe cherries, old raisins and intense milk chocolate mix together to a wonderful aroma. Orange peels and intense pulp are almost completely superimposed on the extreme cherry notes, overripe fruits become slightly sour. Woody aromas are barely perceptible, but the nose is characterized by extreme fruitiness!
    • Taste
Spicy wood is almost supplanted by the intense cherry note on the first sip. Creamy, sweet and mild is the first impression, only after a few moments are subtle sharpness and woody notes to advantage. Harmonious and fruity, the taste stays in the mouth for a long time.
    • Finish
Relatively mild and fruity, the taste goes into the finish. The subtle sharpness is still over the finish, slightly tart and spicy wood elements are transformed into a fruity walnut flavor. For a long time the finish is remembered.

  4. Magnus Hillman scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Very well balanced on the nose, excellent nose to be honest, the finish was not bad at all but I was a bit disappointed on the palate. It was too soft. 46% ABV and non-chillfiltered might have added some more power to the flavor.

    (Rating interval 80-84)
    • Nose
Dry sherry, chocolate, some solvent (oil paint) and slightly rubber. Complex spiciness on the nose, quite subtle, cinnamon and cloves I believe. Wonderful nose.
    • Taste
Mild arrival, subtle spices, really soft, some mixed spices and malt in the development but it's too restricted. Water doesn't really change it. Must be extremely careful with water since it's already very soft and careful.
    • Finish
The finish is bitter-sour, lemon rind and grapefruit, some wood spice and a bit savory. Water brings more intense oak in the finish.

I tried many of these '96 sherried Longmorns already and none of them disappoint. Their quality is very consistent. Just as sister cask 10589 I find this one having some resemblance to port, with more chocolate and dark fruit notes than some earlier bottlings.

    • Nose
Dark cherry, orange peel, prune, mocha, dark chocolate and raisin.
    • Taste
Blueberry, prune, dark chocolate, orange, raisin and grapefruit.
    • Finish
Blueberry, dark chocolate, prune, chestnut, orange and aniseed.
