Nose: Raisin nuts, chocolate, aged sherry
Taste: A very nicely complex whisky. The taste includes notes of chocolate and light notes of orange with the accompaniment of notes of sherry in the background. Quite a lot of depth of flavor.
Rating: 89 | 10 - Good whisky. Worth trying. Recommended. Finish, good, pleasant!

A notch better than its sister cask 1483 , the wb ratings correctly reflect that imho. PX might not be as elegant as Oloroso Dronach, but 17 years full maturation have done significantly more good to this malt than a mere clumsy wet cask finish could ever hope to accomplish. Very good stuff a fair retail price of about 80 EUR.

A beautiful Glendronach, excellent cask selection.
    • Nose
Prunes, dates, dried figs, coffee, chocolate. Sweet, with just a slightest hint of sulphur, other than that - superb.
    • Taste
Creamy, oily, extremely fruity with oranges, grapes, figs chased by notes of chocolate, cocoa, almonds. A bit of ginger follows. Great.
    • Finish
Long, lingering fruity sweetness complemented by bitterness of roasted cocoa.

Nose is sherry, raisin and fig are there's a Chesterfield couch dazzling around on which someone spilled a bit sulphur. Really great nose, in fact I could nose this one for hours before nipping, it's very rewarding and changes over time.

Taste is a sherry sweet explosion in the best way a PX could be, lots of oranges, oil, and red fruit, pepper. There is wood, but it's so well balanced, the wood comes just after a brief moment, very nice.

Finish is long, very long, nice and sweet, some wood as well.

Another great PX sherry bomb by Glendronach! Sets you back around 120 euro's but she's worth it.

Another one out of the seemingly infinite stream of superb GlenDronach casks. Compared to cask 1480 released 3 years earlier, and in comparison this one is much heavier.
    • Nose
Raisin, prune, mocha, dark cherry and dark chocolate with hazelnut. Perhaps a faint whiff of sulphur. Very heavy, love it.
    • Taste
Prune, cherry, mocha, nougatine, raisin, roasted almond and cranberry. Again a spicy tad of sulphur to it, but in such small proportions that it doesn't harm at all.
    • Finish
Roasted almond, mocha, cherry, dark chocolate and pepper.

Glendronach 1996 - 2013, 17 years - bottled by Kierzek, 52.9% alc., PX Sherry Puncheon, barrel number 1482, 698 bottles in total.

Nose: Very deep fruit notes, plums, blackberries and quite a bit of sherry. Dry and leathery, a (still) pleasant Essignote, sultanas and towards the end, a hint of smoke can be guessed. The oak has already given off a lot of aroma here, the dry and leathery aromas, but also the vinegar allow for associations with espresso. A great nose.

Palate: Strong spiciness without exploding throughout the mouth. Subsequently, a cocktail shoots over ripe fruits. The drought beats again here and reports tingling.

Finish: Medium, weaker than nose and palate. I would have liked more. On the tongue remains a furry sweetness, as you may recognize sultanas.

Conclusion: top whisky, an excessive Sherrymalt. To try something like that is really fun.

90/100 points (tasted 2014, available for just under € 90.00 at Kierzek, Weitlingstrasse 17 - Berlin Lichtenberg) posted on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/notesofwhisky PS: The keg was shared by Kierzek and whiskykanzler.de - so there are two different "bottled-for-labels"
