This is just delicious. All the flavours are just so full and everything goes so well together, I find it hard to find any flaws here. You could say that there’s an odd leathery note lingering in the back, but let’s not nitpick here. The only real negative thing about this, really, is that I don’t have any more of it to pour into my glass.
That’s big on the sherry, unsurprisingly of course. Serious amounts of dried fruit, heavy chocolate, burnt sugar and a hint coffee. I love this kind of sherry nose with all those big flavours, but none of the bitter off notes that you get sometimes in heavily sherried whiskies.
Ah yes, this is the stuff; dark raisins, chocolate again, caramel fudge, cherry sauce, cinnamon and mocha. This is simply yummy. Such deep flavours here, but still maintaining good character in the malt. A honey-like note coming through now as well, and there’s some good oak in the back.
Long and lovely. All the flavours linger to the end, nothing disappears after a few seconds. One to enjoy for a long time after the last sip.
