    Very nice Speysider
best tasted undiluted. Around 130 EUR.
    • Nose
      It offers a round and
sweet nose on hazelnuts and almonds with a truckload of butterscotch. Pine
cones. Orchard fruit. I am reminded of Sirop de Liège. The malt shines through
as well, while the oak keep sits head down. Wonderful nose. Adding water makes
it somewhat more green, if you know what I mean.
    • Taste
      On the palate, the
fruit is rather from the citrus variety. Mandarin and bergamot. The wood speaks
a little louder and adds a nice spiciness (ginger, pepper and some cinnamon).
Very fruity and sweet. Nice continuation of the nose, I must say. A little
liquorice and vanilla join the party. Diluted it becomes sweeter still, but in
      my opinion not better.
    • Finish
      The oak has the final
say in the medium long finish.

Kininvie is not very plausible as this whisky was distilled in 1989, while the Kininvie distillery was not operational until July 1990.

Images of Dufftown 1989/2014 'The Whisky Shop of Dufftown' (53.2%, Malts of Scotland, bourbon, 211 bottles) Four stars This baby’s rumoured to be Kininvie, but that’s highly unlikely since the Distillery started operating in July of 1990 according to various reliable sources. So what could the be? Colour: straw. Nose: oh! But it’s close to the Kininvie! Just less vanilla-ed, rather crisper, and rather grassier. Freshly mown lawn. I’d call it Mr. Austere at this point, although I seem to find more and more mocha and vanilla toffee over time. With water: greengages and ripe peaches all over the place. Mouth (neat): big grassy oak and plenty of yellow plums and white peaches. Touches of varnish, then zesty, crisp notes of bitter oranges and grapefruits. I cannot wait to try it with water… With water: excellent, clean, very fruity, with a perfect oaky structure. Finish: rather long, fruity, with the right mouth feel. Comments: rather a grassier Balvenie? Burnside? SGP:551 - 87 points.I'm

Another Malts Of Scotland Malt without the distillery name. In this case, the name gives me really NO hint, what distillery is hidden in the bottle. I love the MoS bottlings, as the guys have from my point of view a really good nose selecting the casks. This one is also a very good one.

The nose is very special. Lots of malt, toffee, butterscotch .. but also some wood and maybe roasted hazelnuts or almonds ... very well balanced. Some hidden fruits deep behind the first nose, coming better with some water. The taste gets along with the nose. Wonderful balanced and round flavoured malt. EXCELLENT. The wood is not so obvious in the taste, but the rest is exactly as the nose has promised. Also here: Some water brings some (citrus) fruits to the front and makes it even more pleasant. The finish brings no surprises, but  is very long and leaves a really warm and satisfying room in the mouth.

Wonderful Malt Whisky, bottled at the perfect age.

I heard rumors that this might be a Kininvie ... but we will never found out this for sure ...
