This whisky sounds like a good old Bowmore drowned in a very young distillate, trying to surface again and again.
It takes a lot of time and patience to decode it. I'm almost too exhausting.
I tried without water, because I fear, by diluting only the "old Bowmore" finally drown ...
    • Nose
      87 87
slightly metallic, light sweetness, not very dominant smoke, overall rather thin. You have to smell a long time, until a flavors meet.
Vanilla, malt, green truncated branches, tree sap, bouillon cubes, prunes, clear clove, citrus notes, hair spray, cold ashes
    • Taste
      86 86
Smoke, ashes, light spiciness, some fruit sweetness, youthful metallic, but overall very balanced.
On the palate and in the throat remains a metallic residual sharpness, not unpleasant.
    • Finish
      85 85
malty, nutty, medium-length finish with some fruit sweetness, slightly bitter

[June, 2015]  I had another dram during a "Feis Ile 2015" tasting at Bonn.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85. I took no detailed notes.

[October, 2014]  I had this dram during a "Feis Ile 2014" tasting at Bonn.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  My notes state a young, fresh and fruity profile with just hints of peat and smoke.  Very quaffable.

F: white wine N: sweet smoke - subtly no phenol overkill, hardly any alcohol, otherwise closed G: sweet, smoke and medicinal aromas overemphasized, a trace of fresh green fruits A: long, smoky, bitter + H2O: at first everything is a little bit more withdrawn - more pleasant, finish but sharp and some solvent + H2O: more solvent - becomes increasingly slanted, and not in an interesting way

This special bottling for Feis Ile 2014 creates the perfect balance of smooth vanilla and silky fruit sweetness balanced by salted nuts and wispy smoke.

Breath in bourbon vanilla, smooth buttercream and fresh cedarwood combined with salted macadamia nuts smothered in golden syrup.

Sip the sweetness of toffee and lemon fondant balanced by sea-salt and gently smoked almonds.

Savour the silky smooth taste of lemon oil and salted vanilla.

Notes by Bowmores master distiller David Turner.

Nose: This is indeed heavily influenced by the ex bourbon. Lots of vanilla and sweet notes on initial sniff. But some fruit also are quite noticeable too. Mainly red fruit. Raspberries and a touch of red cherry. In addition there’s a biscuit-y , caramely note with butter and a faint see breeze as week as fragrant flower petals. Jasmine?

Palate: mmm. Toasted oak. Berries , lots of sea breeze in here. And a bitter note too of dark chocolate and crushed coffee beans. Not as sweet as the nose might lead you to think.

Finish : Smoky and bitter with burnt sugar, dark chocolate with a raspberry filling.

It’s a fine dram. Fruit and sea breeze make it quite interesting. A bit too bitter towards the end.

A tasty dram, quite complex, and rather affordable compared to the other FE editions. I quite liked it, although it’s not something totally different. A good purchase for that price, no doubt. Bowmore is releasing some good stuff recently, and this is no exception.

So the nose is the highlight here, the mouth ok, and the departure relatively short and me too monotonous in the direction of salt.
    • Nose
Interesting, had previously a Ledaig and here it goes on with the muff immediately, clear smoke, lemon zest, some milk chocolate, a spice, which I know but the name does not come to mind, really very musty, from time to beat an intense honey sweetness , very complex on the whole
    • Taste
sweet, creamy, chocolate, then comes the smoke, a little salt, tingling and drier
    • Finish
the salt comes to the fore, the dry smoke is everywhere, short and crisp

Lemon, Ashtray, no Finish. Honestly the worst Bowmore I ever had.

    a fresh bourbon finish bowmore
    which is pleasant to drink

      a small cowshed flashback
      Glue and vanilla

      Lime zest, chocolate
fresh wood and a pinch of nutmeg
    • Taste
      a sparkling start
a lot of vanilla and sweet glue mix with dry dark chocolate
      with sweet caramel and orange
      alcohol grade
      Smoke in the throat
    • Finish
      long
      pretty much chocolate
bitter notes of wood with some malt sweetness
