    finally a really nice Bowmore!
because you want to chill immediately;)

In the mouth, unfortunately, you feel a bit numbing the alcohol
Not unpleasant, but it does disturb the development of the aromas

    Ranking: 1.Nase 91, 2.Abgang 90, 3.Mund 89 yes, I touched the sky
    • Nose
someone poured a dark sherry over a leather briefcase
both the sherry and the leather bag were very old

it does not just smell like leather and sherry
it smells like all those long years
to Fass, to sulfur, to Spain, to juicy sweet oranges from Seville
after sweat, after file dust, after burnt plum jam

      even some old dusty raisins
in the cracks of the old leather bag
have become plump from the sherry
and exhale again their sweetly dusty smell
You want to know how the wet leather tastes
    • Taste
It is a dull nutty taste that smoothly plays around your tongue
sweetish, dusty, a touch of everything
      orange, leather, sherry, raisins
the barrel and the sweat (sweet & salty)
      slightly numbing (an alcohol note)
    • Finish
      slightly bitter chocolate powder
into which malt sweetness gradually mixes
a splash of a fresh clementine
      Sea salt and malt sweetness
      dark chocolate in the background

Snorter. The nose is great except for the stinging alcohol. The palate is also great at first, but then becomes too sour. In total there are still 85 points. Too bad, he totally thrills me. But the off-flavors push the potentially excellent result down a bit.
    • Nose
Sherry. Dark fruits, chocolate. But Rauch is also clearly involved from the start, more than expected. The alcohol stings a little too much for the quite low barrel strength. A little pigsty. Smoke and stall will soon fade into the background. Classic Oloros flavors will then come into their own. Plums, raisins, some wall units and car tires. The alcohol stings less, but it remains that it is present.
    • Taste
Very fruity and full-bodied, without any sharpness. Smoke mixes in without becoming dominant. Tobacco forms, slightly acidic. Dry. After swallowing, the acidic tobacco note becomes more intense. Some stale tea. Some soot.
    • Finish
Medium to long. The warmth is not particularly pronounced, the bitter-dry taste remains longer.

Complex, round, not too sherry-cluttered and unique. Sherrybowmore as he must be.
    • Nose
These are the bowmores that are simply unbeatable. Plum jam, wet leather, freshly inflamed cigar and 80% dark chocolate. Just great.
    • Taste
Is the nose in no way inferior. The light smoky note is lapped by well-sugared espresso, leather and tobacco here as well, so chewing tobacco must taste. Add blood orange, slightly salty.
    • Finish
Long, creamy cherry, chocolate sauce over it.

    Tasting Notes by Bowmore.
    • Nose
Black sherries and Sevilla orange in dark chocolate cream with cocoa beans and sea-salt.
    • Taste
Sultanas and tangy orange peel combined with smoked almonds, chestnut oil and lingering peat.
    • Finish
Dark chocolate coated cherries, plum skins and sea-salt.

Bowmore today and a true untouched distillery bottling at that. I've had one other like this which I thought was quite good so I'm eager to try this one. Let's see how it tastes.

Nose is immediate coastal brine, salt and chocolate. Then sweet aroma of old leather, then red berries. Smoke and tar join in this experience.

Palate continues with smoked bacon and salted fudge. Raspberries and even some honey.

Finish is campfire and smoked bacon followed by silky chocolate and pepper jelly.

Wow, this is an amazing Bowmore! It's huge and meaty, coastal brine and mineral rich Bowmore over and over again... in fact if I could fin another bottle of this; I'd put it in my top 20 Bowmores! Incredible stuff; worth the taste!
    • Nose
      91 91
The nose opens with coal tar and plaster bandages. Sherry somehow plays second fiddle with the peat coming in forefront. Mineral and sea spray overflow in this dram, intense sherry follows with molasses and follows with tractor oil and a touch of more sweets.
    • Taste
      92 92
The palate is huge. Coal tar and literal campfire. Smoke and ash clash with sherry soaked pudding and burnt bog. Wow this is big, water only expands the palate and makes it somehow larger and harder to swallow... this is a true #DevilsCask
    • Finish
      90 90
The finish is long, sherry lead and intensely seaside bonfire with burnt fog cake and sherry spread around. There’s a lovely salty swish that filters through the finish. Wow... this is a lot of Bowmore to take in; water expands this a manageable amount.

    Color: copper / amontilado sherry
Nose: slightly pungent at the beginning with distinctive aromas of old sherry, balsamic, vinegar essence, leather, tobacco and dill. Sticky orange jam and zest of peels, raisins, nutmeg and toffee with black pepper. A nice, well balanced combination.
Taste: Actually starting with a thin mouthfeel and a lot of salt. It quickly becomes more voluminous, including wood notes, which are not annoying. Nuts, raisins and getting creamier with balsamic, leather, oranges, wild berries and honey. Towards the finish with more crystallized oak notes.
Finish: Long - tart wood, salty and dry leather notes, black tea and overripe tobacco leaves with a malty undertone. Cocoa and a lot of dark chocolate remain on the tongue for a long time.
    90 points (nose: 91 / taste: 90 / finish: 90)

Just can't get my head around this one--too cloyingly sweet and floral for me.  Too close to the 80s for comfort....
