Whisky Reviews for Tobermory 1996 VM

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.00 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    Something is not easy for me at Tobermory, everything comes across strange and unfinished some specimens, maybe it is typical for this brand? Moonshine tones, vegetables, grains - not that terrified horror, but there is no special delight either; This bolt from the same series, a specific product, to an amateur.
    • Nose
      Clear, raw, grain, moonshine - clear such a first-hand; citrus - sweets, lime; fresh raw sawdust, a little vegetable notes - a broken cucumber, margelan radish, daikon;
    • Taste
      Sharp, sweet pepper, red pepper, paprika, oak; fusel, spirituous notes; grassy bitterness - wormwood, motherwort;
    • Finish
      Sweet pepper, moonshine notes, grapefruit and lemon peels, oak bitterness.

  2. Toffie76 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    Nice nose!
    • Nose
      Initially strong vanilla, the malt opens with lemony notes, pear, hay, a trace of smoke, mineral (rock dust). He is lively and looks younger than the advertised age. A lot of salt, sea air.
    • Taste
      Pretty powerful and strong peppery. The palate is austere compared to the nose which lets imagine a more fruity / vegetal / sweet whisky. A notch below the nose.
    • Finish
      Pepper and persistent bitterness. Relatively long. Austere.

  3. Bishlouk scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    The peppery / salty mixture is interesting.
    • Nose
      A slight dry and salty smoke. Lemon peel and hay.
    • Taste
      Round and powerful, acidulous fruits dominate; accompanied by lots of pepper and some softer white fruits. Long salty hints.
    • Finish
      Lemon bitterness, pepper and salt are always very present.
