White Horse 1980s scottish blend (4838741). Tin cap, 40% 75cl. I had this oldy last evening. A Hebredean (Lagavulin) gust of brine and smoldering wood, butter, sherry, sage and distant ginger bread in the nose. On the palatte grainy (quality grain) sweetness, more sherry, toffee and a herby bitter. There's also Glen Elgin in there. On par with a 1980s vintage malt like Famous Grouse. What a gem!

    Colour: golden amber.

Nose/taste: aromas of praline, vanilla taffy, and creme fraiche with a soft, dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body and toffee, sweet potato, citrus.

Finish: a mossy and earth accented finish.

A great whisky(for me, and a long, long time ago!).

    • Nose
Old style - reminds me of old smelly leather boots.

Slightly peaty and smoky, cow-shed, old polished leather and dried figs. Very pleasant.
    • Taste
Very pleasant at first mouthfeel - old style whisky - smooth, peaty and spicy, Notes of chestnuts are present as well. Very tasty.
    • Finish
Long, slightly dry and sour, peaty and spicy.
