Lots of honeysuckle, lemon oils, icing sugar. Toffee notes from the bourbon casks. More Lowlands notes than Island notes. Deeper down some light leather and exotic fruits, fresh apricots and mango. Over all just sugary, flowery, and sweet.
Quite smooth, round, a slight bite from the alcohol. First notes are sweet, pure refined sugar, icing sugar, lemon oil. Almost like a peppery lemonade. Light oaky bitterness, good dose of barley and cereals, vague note of smoke, light peppermint. Second chew is fuller, oilier, some ginger and mint coming out, a bit of black pepper, and definitely more sweetness. Not bad, but a bit shallow or thin, narrow body, not too complex. Quite enjoyable, but not really a big whisky. Third chew brings more spice, ginger, even some cloves, along with more oak, lots of sweetness, cereals. Smoke also getting stronger. Not bad, but again it's missing complexity.
Intense warmth from the alcohol and spices still there, some oaky bitterness and ginger, sweetness fades away first. Smoke builds up and the profile becomes better, the finish is better than I expected.
