  1. StyrianSpirit scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

This Laimrig is, compared to the Devil's Casks, the gentler, rounder malt with the (for me) more pleasant smoke flavor. The Laimrig also tolerates some water and thereby gains sherry depth and fruit sweetness.
    • Nose
Laimrig of gentle strength: the smoke, the earth tones and the sherry. The herbs give a fine foundation; All in all, compared to the Devil's Casks, they have a more mysterious, restrained nose.
    • Taste
Comes nicely oily in the mouth, the alcohol tingles softly, then getting stronger, the smoke is more likely to Selchrauch, has lost some of the "Bowmore-Muffigkeit". Then comes a beautiful herbal note that complements the sherry well.
    • Finish
The finish again is oak-accented and the herbal and forest soil notes are well remembered.

    • Nose
At first surprisingly introverted, "bowmore-typical" smoke that threatens to sink into heavy sherry tunes. In the first few minutes, the high alcohol content (54.1%) is noticeable with a very slight stinging in the nose, but it disappears again after some time. Raisins, plums, blackcurrants, raspberries, oranges, leather and pipe tobacco rise from my glass. Some milk chocolate and already spicy oak notes join. After about 15 to 20 minutes, I feel the smoke more intense than at the beginning.
    • Taste
Powerful start, the 54.1 volume percent push at the first moment properly. An incredibly oily, almost creamy mouthfeel is framed by a fine cloud of smoke with intense sherry flavors. Oranges, raisins, currants, cherries and heavy notes, such as leather, tobacco and spicy oak wood follow. A touch of salt and dark chocolate complete the multi-layered and harmoniously balanced aroma flavor.
    • Finish
Long, smoky and sherrylastiger finish. Again, I find raisins, some tobacco, dark chocolate and spicy oak notes. Minimal bitterness and slightly drier.

Finally a good value for money Bowmore. And the sherry amount is excellent beside the peat.
    • Nose
Peat and sherry. Raspberry, smoked ham, marzipan. Oak and ash.
    • Taste
More sherry, fruits and oak than the nose. Peat, tannins, spices.
    • Finish
      Long, spicy, smoky.

really good stuff for lovers of the peat/sherry combination.
    • Nose
nice combo of sherry and peat, dried fruit and cow stable. smoked bacon. slightly dusty. polished cedar and sandalwood. hints of incense, hints of tobacco leaves. a real nice oakiness.
    • Taste
pleasantly dry, the cow stable is gone. the fruit is much fresher than on the nose. orange chocolate, bitter orange jam, hints of solvent - somehow grainy. tobacco again and lots of oak, but very pleasant.allspice, freshly ground cinnamon.
    • Finish
      long, spicy

  5. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

One of the best Bowmore OA I know (up to and including 25's). The Darkest, however, is comparably good.
    • Nose
Sherry, peat, sweetish, fresh, but also clear oak, some mint, autumn leaves.
    • Taste
Sweet, fruity, peat, tobacco, sherry, oak, peach and raisins.
    • Finish
Sherry, peat, tart, but always with a little sweetness in the background, some menthol, some tobacco and oak.

  6. Archer scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very nice malt. Very good balance between oak - smoke - sweetness. Whether it's the barrel strength issue of the Darkest 15? Who knows. Ultimately, no matter. He is good!
    • Nose
Sherry sweet smoke with a hint of ham. Dark chocolate, leather and tobacco. Over time, sherry and smoke take a back seat. Leather and tobacco remain present, with a deep-spicy note. Raisins and figs. Some sea salt. Ah, a very nice nose.
    • Taste
Beautifully oily, he rolls over his tongue. Fine smoke, little peat. Sherrysweet, milk chocolate. Somewhat earthy, loamy. Leather and tobacco also on the tongue. Oak flavor. Despite the strong onset, it is very quickly "soft" and dresses the whole taste buds with smoke-dried grapes and figs. Over time, the oak becomes stronger.
    • Finish
Long finish. Beautiful oak, still smoke, sweet raisin.

    Incredible Bowmore!
For me, the perfect smoky sherry whisky!
Typical Bowmore smoke with a big cargo
Sherry influences like coffee, dark fruits and some leather.
The successor is already ready ...

    Very strong 91/100

    • Nose
Grape. It looks juicy. The smoke pulls towards the burned. Relatively austere, I expected something more greedy (compared to the distant memory that I have Batch 3). Honey is growing. We also have dry almonds - the kind that would have dragged a little too long in a tight box. It wins in depth with the opening, I also have cocoa powder.
With water, it looks more fleshy. I have some wood and caramel. Cereals emerge. It's crazy, adding water rejuvenates! Some citrus fruits.
    • Taste
Well spicy but very mellow at the same time, the smoke is in the process of union. Generous and balanced, it remains on this relatively austere profile announced on the nose.
With water, more fluid in the mouth but also much more commonplace.
    • Finish
Traces of smoke. Intense finish with a lingering clove note. Water makes spices more diverse and biting.

      Enthusiasm:
      Nose 3/5
      Mouth 4/5 (3/5 with water)
      Final 4/5

A super peaty sherry, powerful and generous.
    88+ / 89-
Close to batch 3, maybe more sherry
    • Nose
slightly peaty, traces of iodine, rather earthy, ashes, some dried fruits,
    • Taste
Slightly creamy, good sugar balance, well integrated alcohol. Greedy notes, earth, plum, some caramel raisins, dark chocolate, some iodine, quite spicy on the finish
    • Finish
Long, on dark chocolate, ashes, a little caramel.

  10. Jean-Brice scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A peaty / sherry whisky rather thin without real complexity but good integration of alcohol
    very good daily dram
    • Nose
      Milk chocolate, cherry, leather, smoke
    • Taste
Salted tip, caramel, cherry, peat chocolate
    • Finish
      average
