- Body: Full. Smooth. Rounded.
Rich for a relatively light malt. Sherryish. Raisiny.
Yet more sherries. Rich, nutty flavours. Lots of flavour development, with gradual dryness and faint smokiness. Remarkably appetizing.
Aniseed sherry. Nutty. Faint, fragrant smokiness. Soothing.
- The label reads-
"As the Knockando distillery manager, I have dedicated many years to the creation of what I believe to be one of the finest Single Malt Whiskies. It gives me enormous pleasure to present to you our most exceptional creation, the 21 year Knockando, which is drawn from a single cask. It is a Single Malt of great fruitiness with substantial depth of character reached only at full maturity. "
"Each individual bottle has been manually filled, labeled, numbered and, finally signed by me- Innes Shaw."
I emailed Knockando asking why this would be labeled 21 year since the Distilled and Bottled dates are 24 years apart. This is their reply.
Thank you for taking time to contact Knockando. Your feedback is important to us.
The distillation process for Knockando takes 3 years, so for your bottle, they started the process in 1973, it finished distilling in 1976 and then aged for 21 years bringing it to 1997.
Once again, thank you for contacting Knockando.
