  1. Astrid scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

The PX has too little impact, but it's also extremely difficult to make something sensible out of the distillate of Slyrs.

  2. ARDBERG scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

To me it feels that the PX cask has a vinegar off note.
All in all it seems like a finish that was not done with much conviction and self-confidence. That would have helped the end result and masked the whisky somewhat, which I would have preferred.Gets better with a max amount of air.
Still Slyrs seems to be just not for my tongue.

    Tasting Notes by Slyrs
    • Nose

  9. Hemdl scored this whisky 72 points Connoisseur

Had expected of the PX-bottling strong sherry flavors, but instead the whisky remained surprisingly flat and meaningless. Unfortunately, the sherry stays a bit in the background and evaporates quite fast, behind it is a decent, but very young malt.
Compared to the various bottlings of Glen Els until I am absolutely disappointed here. Since those responsible from the resin apparently had a better hand in the barrel selection or implementation.

Too young, too sharp, no sherry sweetness despite Jiminez maturing. Absolute Fehlkauf.Schmeckt nicht.Leider,

A lot better than the standard 3 y.o. but nevertheless this quality should be the least standard quaility of the self-proclaimed "best European Single Malt"!

http://www.weinkenner.de/2014/slyrs-2014-sherry-edition-n2-oloroso-und-px-finish-mit-46-33215/ Color: gold with a slight amber stitch
Nose: Salty, fruity orange, sherry and strong notes of burnt gum. Add cinnamon and malt, sweet spicy cardamom, gingerbread, raisins, Russian bread, cold coffee scent and just slightly sweet honey.
Taste: Spicy nut and almond aromas are immediately present and are complemented by aromas of espresso, tobacco, campfire and wood. Very fat start and even spicier with more salt, dried orange slices and some honey in the background. Ever more bitter wood and nut flavors towards the finish.
Finish: Long - powerful spicy and sparkling salty. Nut and almonds, nut liqueur and oranges dominate the finish. Dry nutty finish.
Remark: For 46% very dominant in the taste - but not as strong in the points as the first bottling!
    86 points (nose: 86 / taste: 87 / finish: 86)
