Good try, but other wood finishes are better.

Finishing contributes to added value here and does not serve - as can be observed elsewhere - for the echo of a youthful indelibility. 15 years is already a decent age. Great drops at a very decent price.
    • Nose
He is guaranteed not dyed! Fruity on the nose (especially grapes and raisins, also a little pear?), Malty, vanilla, subtle citrus fruits. Full of promise!
    • Taste
And the standard is kept pleasurable: a full-bodied symphony. Even tangerines?
    • Finish
The sweetness provided by the base is wonderfully absorbed by a slightly burnt-on effect, which is why the finish creates a successful overall impression.

Well, not for me, definitely. I'm sure BenRiach's spirit could use some quality rum influence if it was subtle and applied to an old malt. But in this expression, the trademark soft fruitiness is burried under tons of solventy permanent-marker notes, alongside cheap creme brulée and just a truckload of uninteresting neutral grainy spirit and sugary wood. The texture is relatively nice though, and the palate is more or less ok. I'm no fan of rum influence in the first place, so if you are, don't take my advice, ... but that was a no-go for me.

    What a taste experience!
    • Nose
Color does not make much, is very bright in the glass. A first fragrance makes it clear in a jiffy, where it comes from: Rumfass, very clearly, very nice associations with rum chocolate, Rumkugeln.
    • Taste
Only after some time, the rum takes back, disappears almost completely. What's left is a great whisky that tastes fruity, spicy.
