Continuation of the blind tasting 14th of 24 drams. The dram is very alcohol-heavy (62% I guess), maybe 12 years old and from the Speyside I guess. A positive one after the very disappointing the last days.Speyside YES, 18 years hmm and only 50% wow I would have guess much more but OK. At least my rating is in line with the average :-P
    • Nose
a bit of Slivovitz so a lot of plums but also pears, banana and chocolate! The alcohol is not perfectly implemented and it is quite difficult to get the flavors throughout the dram. Nevertheless quite interesting!
    • Taste
The excessive Slivovitz note is gone so plums are there but more decent now. Fruity sweetness, a bit of honey and very nice but difficult to describe for me.
    • Finish
very nice not too complex and long but very harmonic and enjoyable.

Sunny grassland after rain. But littered with plastics.

The very first aroma is sesame oil, then green banana and cream soda ice cream. Then there're wet grasses, like after rain and the sun comes out and the water evaporates. Nice dry apricot and lasting scandal wood. Cream soda again. With time, milk chocolate appeared.
    • Taste

Quite dry in the mouth, a little nutty. Sweetened citrus fruit juice. A bit astingent.
    • Finish

      Bitter and plastic-y after taste.

He is delicious, beautiful, very tasty bourbon barrel. The consistency is awesome. Is he special or outstanding? No, just a good malt. No more, but definitely not less.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

    Hm, so, bourbon barrel ...
Well, I suppose that the butt was a little more often refilled, which also explains the old age, so set he does not work. For 12 years I would have typed.
    • Nose
First, barley, grass, pear punch. Life saturates the whole thing, caramel, salt and sweat. The alcohol is either not too strong or well integrated. Heat makes it a bit more aggressive, fermented fruit, silage, later cocoa and some honey.
    • Taste
Very sweet on the go, honey and herbs, almost firm in consistency, fleshy. Begins to tingle a bit in the middle and also shows that he has seen some oak. Menthol and a handful of tannins.
    • Finish
In the finish first bitter herbs, then it sounds relatively quickly with honey sweetness and a hint of chocolate, without even great to warm.
