Great (Ardmore) blend whisky. Tasted from Geert Bero @ Whisky in Leiden 2014. According to Geert the whisky we tasted was bottled +/- 1924.
Tasted with Aby and J J

Storage conditions are so critical to a whisky, especially one that has sat around for nearly 80 years. Rating something low because you've had a bad experience with a poorly stored bottle seems inconsiderate.

Our bottle however was bought from an estate cellar and was in mint condition. 1930's Ardmore & Glendronach in the blend, the Glendronach sherried fruit and the distinctive Ardmore peat are very present on the nose and palate. The nose is extremely powerful on cooked fruits and sooty coal phenols. On the palate this is very unique and quite a sweet ride. A little grain comes through on the palate in the finish but it is pleasand and adds a creaminess. Possibly the best blend we've tasted to date.

Great to have tried something this old but its a little flat to be honest but it will be fragile after so long in the bottle.

Old blends are an adventure, do not ignore them, they sit on shelves collecting dust, what a shame, I would rather have old blends than all the new Nas stuff and overpriced, over hyped premium bottles we get now.

    http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=259 Color: Old Gold
Nose: Sour (milk) and "green" with hints of grass, dandelion, honey, some peat and light wood - generally rather thin.
Taste: Soft and starting with a herbal spice. Wood, elderberries, nettles, tar, pepper and peaty peaty accents. Fresh moss, some mint and underlaid dull leather notes.
Finish: Medium length - spicy with tea and dried herbs, malt, honey and hints of vanilla.
    88 points (nose: 88 / taste: 89 / finish: 87)
