    Very potential recognizable, but too young and unfortunately too expensive!

    [Color gold;
    • Nose
      Fruits (clear pear, citrus fruit)), sour note, vanilla;
    • Taste
      Soft, fruity (lemon, pear), floral; distinct vanilla, minimal spiciness; clearly young!
    • Finish
      Medium long finish, long finish of reminiscent of a pear schnapps!

    Singular. A little closed to the nose. Autumnal, wet. Sherry is here with nuts. The bourbon cask is revealed late with caramel. On the palate, it is the Swedish oak which imposes with its robustness and its spices well dosed. A sweet hair swallowing. It's a balanced dram but the barrel finish of birch wine is not so identifiable. Enthusiasm 3/5

    Great box and especially cool bottle, the color really makes something and awakens with the name of certain expectations, which is why I was a little disappointed, the taste did not fit the picture, what I had in mind. But actually, this is the most interesting, complex, surprising Mackmyra I've ever had, Bruks Whisky, Blomstertid or Motörhead, on the other hand, are more perceptible one-trick ponies - yummy, but simple. My documents say that cost under 50 €, great packaging, good price (if you think nothing wrong).
    • Nose
      undiluted rather closed, edgy, spicy, my first Mackmyra, who does not show up immediately and needs time and water, then: mild honey, pear compote, a hint of lime, fresh peeled lilac and hazel branches, some mint
    • Taste
      sweeter, more summery than the nose, the honey is more aromatic, darker, toffee to Storck giants, seasoning (cinnamon, some pepper), slight bitterness, a little woody, then herbal liqueur to herbal bitters, licorice
    • Finish
      long and versatile, mild pepper, a touch of grapefruit bitterness, herbal bitters, liquorice, coffee

    Midnight

    The Midnattssol – Swedish for midnight – is described by Mackmyra as a summer whisky. It matured in a combination of American and Swedish oak and got a finish in casks that previously held Swedish birch sap wine. Imagine that!

    Hmm, this is a very good nose! Loads of fruit in the guise of gooseberries, blueberries as well as some floral and herbal elements. Think elderflower and ferns and some woodsmoke. I would almost think there is some peat in there as I get a – albeit very delicate – development of smoke.

    Nicely oily in the mouth. Again fruity, but now quite spicy as well. Next to the berries I get mostly pears and grapefruit. The oak speaks. More woodspice that the nose let on.

    Long and warming finish.

    This makes me smile. On a summery night – or maybe even Midsummer night – this would be tasty indeed.

    This whisky takes time in the glass, gradually it is getting better, more pleasant and rounder.
    • Nose
      sweet and initially alcoholic, later fruity (sour fruits)
    • Taste
      hot and peppery, but also soft and light, lemon, interesting sweetish oak notes
    • Finish
      medium, but long in the mouth reverberating with some wood

    Nose: Soft and sweet, very alcoholic. Caramel with hints of white pepper and a light touch of spicy vermouth with acetone. Pear drops and refreshing citrus. Sweet with vanilla, honeysuckle and freshly mown grass. Wham Bar (chocolate bar), ending in bubbly citrus. Palate: Bitter with drying oak and herbal hints and a musty touch. Sweetness unfolds and gives the whisky harmony. Caramel is replaced by dark, sticky Treacle Toffee. In addition liquorice. Notes on mocha and tar oil with plant roots (burned turnips and parsnips). Slightly floral before citrus fruits unfold that protect against too much dryness and bitterness. Rich oranges, grapefruit and salted lemon. Finish: Well balanced with bitterness, citrus, pleasant pepper and moist, fresh wood. WhiskyCorner.co.uk
