Whisky Reviews for Islay Mist Peated Reserve McDI

Islay Mist was created in connection with the 21st birthday of the local aristocrat Lord Margadale. He believed that Laphroaig's single malt would be too strong, which is why the distillery created a blend in the literal translation of "Pure Island Fog" - Pure Islay Mist. The Deluxe Blend was created in 1922 and contained Laphroig whiskey (mainly), Glenlivet and grain whiskey.
    • Nose
      Peat and seagrass.
    • Taste
      Peat, salt, oak.
    • Finish
Peat, caramel, coffee, bittersweet finish, short, unbalanced.

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

He is good, does not look too young or sprittig, has a lot of smoke, sherry plays well with and the color seems to be genuine. With 25 € / liter a bargain, bang for your buck, for the smoker beginner with a small purse definitely recommended!
    • Nose
clear smoke, dull, earthy, musty, moss, somewhat medicinal, some salt, behind it sweetness (malt, caramel) and wood - smells pleasant and not at all immature or cheap
    • Taste
Camp fire smoke, earth, some salt, slightly bitter and spicy-hot, but there is also malt, forest honey, some chocolate, a slight brandy note
    • Finish
medium long, dark chocolate with pepper

  3. domani scored this whisky 61 points Expert Senior

No bad blend that is carried by an aromatic smoky note; Unfortunately, this disappears too fast and the youth of the whiskey comes to the fore - 09.01.2016
    • Nose
Instant smoke that passes from campfire to phenolic, cereals, malt, forest soil, mushrooms, balsamic, salty, sea breeze, light alcohol
    • Taste
Sweet, slightly smoky, malty, spicy, oily, butter, hot, youthful, earthy and bitter towards the end
    • Finish
      Short
