  1. Greenkeeper scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

I'm a bit bewildered by all these high valuations. Seems like a very high price and the word "limited" on a bottle is a guarantee for lotsa whiskybase-points. Don't let them fool you ! I'd really like to know, how all the 90-points-and-above voters would rate that one in a blind tasting.

My personal guess is as follows: In a blind-tasting or with a 39 Euro sticker popped on it we'll see a lot of votings starting with a "7.." Don't get me wrong, I think this is a decent, good and interesting whisky, worth savouring. But the price is ridicolously high. The story that a shady Mr. Malcolm Z. forgot three casks in his closet and that they were re-discovered twenty-something years later doesn't make the whisky better. That's just a marketing story to fool silly customers. Will it work ?

Without regarding the price I would have given it about 83 points, maybe 84.
But the value-for-price ratio is a part of all my valuations, so it's only 81. This one for that price (235 up to 300 Euros) is for investment sharks, not for spirit lovers.

A weird one. Found it to be disorganized then show flashes, then retreat.

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

a ripe, round whisky with a clear peat content. Go into the Ardmore direction, but almost a less "full" I really like it. Only the price ...
    • Nose
Beautiful, clear oak, sweet hints of peat. Candied citrus peel, lots of fruit (but not the new make fruitiness)
    • Taste
clear oak, peat, marzipan, intense & strong.
    • Finish
Peat, menthol, a great sweetness with the mentholigen, slightly tart wood notes.

Interesting flavors from Tomatin ... but I like it. 88/89.
    • Nose

Floral. Fruits, herbals, caramel and vanilla. Touch of creamy peat.
    • Taste
      89 89
Powerful. Oak. Ginger and nutmeg. Orange peel, grapefruit and forest fruits.
    • Finish
      88 88
      Long, spicy, smoky.

I agree with Greenkeeper, this is rough and harsh, even water does not tame it, lacks balance

  8. Drochaid scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

The initial smoke is light, like distant burning kindling and has a
heathery character which quickly gives way for fresh fruits – pear
accompanied by citric lime zest and sweet pineapple. After time in the
glass it becomes much sweeter with honey, vanilla, coconut and
custard. Herbaceous notes of basil and rocket.

smoke and the floral heather notes are more prominent on the palate.
Sweet abundance of fresh fruits; orange and grapefruit followed by
blackberry and blueberry. Some ginger and clove spice is also hidden in
    the background.

Very smooth with a long lasting earthy, yet sweet smoke.
