Balance sheet (22) A very grown-up mole at such a young age ... I do not cease to be surprised by the old releases. In a nutshell (90)
    • Nose
The fragrance is delicate ... the varnish and the skin ... the nut ... the ripe fruit ... the hot biscuit and the weathered pepper ... the strikingly "adult" ... the resemblance to the White Heather is obvious (though in Veresk everything is turned outward, like in broken radio ... but here it is neatly packed in a quality product) (23)
    • Taste
Taste soft ... creamy fruity ... vanilla ... oak and spices ... varnish ... grass (23)
    • Finish
Finish varnish, fruit and tree ... slightly viscous ... cream-glaze

This has a nice fruity nose and tastes much older than a mere 8 years old, I suspect there could be casks of perhaps 15 years in the mix to beef it up as there is also some oak influence coming through.
Nothing like Aberlour Abunad'h as of now that is much more one dimensional profile (still nice mind). The palate is full bodied, fruity sherry , plenty of spice with a load of peat thrown in.
A nice whisky worth looking out for at auction, I have had a few of these 50% dumpy and they never disappoint.

This is for the Italian label version, 50%abv. Pours a bright gold. Nose is on the stale side, sweaty, musty, some malty, flowery notes but really "past due." Somehow, the mouth explodes with tropical fruits and peat, strong and bright. Definitely mango, passionfruit. Sharp peat attack, horseradish, spicy in the finish. Mouth is super well integrated, how is the nose so stale? Is this is regular trend with older bottlings?

Edit - this has been opened for a couple months now. The nose is a lot richer and less overtly malty. Peach pie, vanilla. Mouth also a bit sweeter but still with a lot of great, tropical and punchy qualities. Really nice.

Unexpected powerfull, of course it is not an Aberlour as i known, but it can`t convincing me, in my opinion this bottling is colourless. But nevertheless, i`m proud to tasting it.
