Whisky reviews for Bunnahabhain 1979 Gs

  1. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A very strange Bunna, has some very nice notes in the mouth and has achieved much more than you would expect from the nose.
    • Nose
Phew, musty, moist, slightly moldy oak, rotten eider, match just extinguished, chocolate sauce but also very noticeable, more chocolate than normal Bunnas
    • Taste
Still the missing notes, but excitingly integrated into great, powerful dark chocolate, chestnut, black walnuts, berry jam, currants in particular, car tires, vanilla, coconut
    • Finish
Sweet-bitter, chocolate, berries, tannins, the sulfur continues light, long

I still remember this as a very pleasant dram. Miles apart from Scoma's Edradour bottling of the same year.

[December, 2003]  I found this dram in an advents calendar sampled by MaRa.  In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  Unfortunately I did not take any notes.
