Very uncomplicated malt, but very harmonious and good in balance.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

Already amazing how close the two, this one and https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/25802/1984-scc are together. One long in a slightly weak barrel and the other very short in a very active barrel, that would be my guess anyway. The flavors are almost congruent, but the performance is of course completely different, nevertheless, very interesting! At any rate, he does not behave like a wine finish for me at all.

First yellow compote, but already seconds after pouring citrus notes develop, actually lemon and some mint and grass, let's see how it develops ...
After a reasonable period of time, the yellow compote has manifested itself as a central note, the citrus notes are only weakly present and some honey is now to be found. Even mint and grass can not be isolated. The alcohol seems to be well integrated, as nothing tickles the nose. Heat brings up floor wax.
    • Taste
      87 87
Lots of honey in the foreground, in addition a subtle fruitiness and subtle oak notes. The alcohol is strong but very soft, which confirms the impression from the nose that he is well involved here. The mouthfeel is oily, almost tough, very full and round.
    • Finish
      84 84
The finish is rather quick and is limited to a sweet fading with a lot of honey, from a pleasant heat that will last a good moment.

Had this one in a blind tasting. Really a fresh one, with a lot of sweet and nice fruity notes, expected this to be in the range of a Glen Keith, Linkwood a.o. Very nice and balanced dram, really pleasant.
    • Nose
      87 87
Fruity, a lot of alcohol, ripe fruits. Then more into green apples, Granny Smith, and citrus.
    • Taste
      88 88
Strong and powerful, sweet, sparkling. Honey, vanilla, yellow fruits, green apples again.
    • Finish
      88 88
Still pretty strong, vanilla, winegums, Granny Smith apples. Pretty long finish.

We don't become friends anymore, I find him too young and overlaid. I liked the Aberlour better by classes. 82 points because the nose was appetizing.
    • Nose
Without water: closed, racial. With water: I think the wine is different, but the whisky reminds me of the Aberlour from the week before last. Sweet, apricots, good mint, but also cherry cough drops and apple peels. Muddy pears.
    • Taste
With water: the dilution did not bring much, it bites hard, has surprisingly got little wine, malt is the dominant note. With more water: less spicy, sour and fruity, apricots, red currants, espresso.
    • Finish
Rather short, little fruit, more malt, dry and bitter.

  9. Nosingbär scored this whisky 86 points Expert Junior

This is one of those who really need time. After pouring, I wonder what that monster is, but with water and time, I get him to where I want him. 86/100.
    • Nose
sweet, fruity, sweet nose. Fresh herbs, minty direction. Vanilla mixes between sour fruit flavors. The fruit note is partially pungent and looks almost slightly smoky. Coffee, chocolate. Fermenting fruits. Over time, the mint note becomes clearer. At this time, the aroma is very fresh, fruity and pleasantly sweet, rounded off with spice. Pepper and cinnamon. Almost toffee in the background. Fresh orange.
    • Taste
angry. Sweet. Berry. Strong, even with water. Cherries. Jam. Dark berries on the palate. (blackcurrant). Pineapple. Wild mixture. In the key and finish he reveals tart notes on the palate, which are only hinted at in the nose.
    • Finish
Vanilla and berry mixture, spicy red wine notes, furry. Finish medium long and pleasantly fading away. The dark berries climb from the palate and spread throughout the mouth, in addition to liquorice, very tender. Tart wine notes immediately after swallowing.

  10. Monte Gehro scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    Blindtasting.
    • Nose
Intense nose, with clear alcoholic fresh note, neat oak spiciness, malt, wild honey, yellow fruit and some citrus
    • Taste
Sweet beginning, oily, honey, very strong without water, here the high alcohol content beats though. Again yellow fruits, in short a few herbaceous and herbaceous elements
    • Finish
Good medium length, sweet at first, soon with strong coating on the tongue, bitter espresso at the end
