    • Nose
      Fruity sweet, raisins and also a hint of crème Bruille and dark chocolate.
      Also slightly salty over time.
    • Taste
      Sweet raisins and sherry notes. Maritime and salty notes come together
    • Finish
      The finish is medium sweet and still raisins and dried fruit.
      My bottle is about half full for 3 weeks. The initial bitter oak note in the finish is no longer available.

    A pleasing single malt from Islay with a wonderful combination of sherry sweetness, warming spices and bitter walnut flavours. A typical Bunna. Water masks the sulfur-derived aromas on the nose without losing the delicious sweetness.

    • Nose
      The nose starts off with sherry, dark fruits, raisins and malted barley. Behind that sweetness, earthy notes of damp moss arrive, nicely mixed with roasted flavours and dark chocolate. Fragrant, with some burnt rubber and a whiff of smoke in the background.
    • Taste
      Bold and rich on the palate. Sweet, full of sherry and lingering raisins. Then slightly bitter with walnuts and a warming spicy mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, oak and white pepper. Hints of ginger and roasted malt towards the finish.
    • Finish
      The finish is medium to long, creamy sweet, with a warming spicy touch of ginger and nutmeg.  Quite lingering, soothing on caramel and slightly bitter walnuts.

      With water: There's less sherry flavours coming through when a few drops of water are added. Still sweet with demerara sugar and raisins, while the burnt rubber aroma is tamed completely. Sweet on the palate with spices and bitter flavours of fruit and walnuts. Less strong than neat with dry oak towards the finish. The finish is medium long, sweet and creamy with a slightly warming touch of spices and dry oak.

    Coffee Bunna. Very interesting, but one sample is enough. You can not drink that often.

      Coffee, dates, tobacco, cigar box, chocolate, a bit mushy, damp forest soil, with the addition of raisins and some cherry juice
    • Taste
      Strong onset, directly again coffee, very peppery, almost spicy, then again tobacco and chocolate, oranges or blood oranges, astringent, the mouth is neatly drained
    • Finish
      Chocolate but also bitter oak, bare coffee beans, this taste lasts a long time, the heat is quickly gone

    Nose:-
    Wood influence at its best. Open with trace of decay and burnt wood,
    creamy fruit and inner durian skin, alluring and unusual. Fruity and
    sherry note lay between with mineral note at the back. Water will bring
    out the nuttiness.

    Palate:- Mouthfull of soft spice. Water enhance on saltiness and rusty note. Balance and good weight on the palate. Finish:- Silky with fantastic aftertaste. Long and leave behind a minty
    feel. Restraint spiciness and just a right touch of sweetness.

    It's this leather boots and damp socks that don't convince me - definitely not my favorite Bunna

      Nutty, woody, leathery - unfortunately has a bit of sweat and damp socks
    • Taste
      Very punchy, oily and mellow, lots of oak wood, leather boots galore and damp socks again
    • Finish
      Long and burning, a tad bitter

    Not the sort of thing I go for usually but It is quite subtle and others I am sure will love it.
    • Nose
      Fruity sherry but there is a sharp edge to it.

      Raisin, plum, a little cinnamon, mocha and dark chocolate.
    • Taste
      Full bodied and chewy on rich caramel and peach.

      It gets sweeter on plum and rich milk chocolate

      Hints of orange and lime.
    • Finish
      Medium length on toffee sweetness.

    Smell:

    A full, rich, fresh and complex whisky with aroma’s of tangy sherry, apple compote, currents, backed pear, raisins, oatmeal, wet leaves, brown sugar, maritime tones, fresh bakery aroma’s, cocoa, green walnuts, green apples, musty cellar, moss, toasted bread, dark honey, burnt sugar, milk chocolate, cedar wood, new leather, soft hint of smoke, muesli, mocha, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, walnut oil, orange marmalade, sweet tobacco, plums, wax, soft varnish tone and fresh oak.

    Taste:

    A powerful, a bit dry, rich, full and complex whisky with Aroma’s of raisins, rhubarb, fresh cake, rich sherry, spices (nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, sweet cloves), kirsch, dark honey, raspberries, strong oak, herbal tones, nutty, walnut oil, green tea, tangerines, orange zest, liquorice root, bitter tannins, molasse, briny, bitter chocolate, toasted bread, cereals, hint of mint, backed apple, soft tone of sulphur, toffee, plums, aniseed, fudge and creamy oak

    Finish:

    a long and rich finish with aroma’s of rich sherry, creamy oak, dried fruits, barley sugar, pepper, lemon zest, candied orange, leather, sultana’s, yeast and lush sherry.

    Conclusion:

    Again a lovely Bunnahabhain although this has a different character than other Bunna’s I’ve tasted so far. A Bunnahabhain has never disappointed me and this one is no exception. Lush, rich and engaging! It has a good complexity and layering of flavours, especially on the nose.

    Bunnahabhain 16 years, manzanilla, 53.3% OA Bunnahabhain 16 years, "Manzanilla", 53.2% alc. original bottling
    Aging: 4 years finish in sherry casks. Batch of 5 barrels
    Region: Islay, Scotland

    Nose: Round and fruity, hardly smoky. Biscuits with dried berry fruits, fruit muesli and clear raisin flavors. Rumkugeln and sugar molasses, harmonious but also moderately complex. At the end, roasted malt, walnuts and a hint of mellow coffee.

    Palate: More intense than the nose, heavier. Fruity and slightly fleshy, again with the raisins and the sugar molasses, followed by a slightly spicy phenol note. In addition, salt, cereals and some nuts again. Also toasted bread and mint.

    Finish: Long, dry and salty. Here the island character comes through stronger. The sherry influence leaves the finish sweet and slightly dry. At the end a lot of oak.

    Conclusion: In the individual categories sometimes really different, but anything but edgy or bad.
