  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A nice sweet and fruity Glen Spey. Tnx for the free sample Menno and CJ.
    • Nose
It starts fresh and clean. Green apples and melon. Later on developing in more tropical sweetness (pineapple and papaya). Some mint as well.
    • Taste
Oranges and mandarins. Vanilla custard. Loads of cinnamon. Sandalwood. Carraway. Gingery.
    • Finish
Medium long. Light oakiness. White pepper and a little nutmeg. Becomes a tad bitter at the end.

  2. greg_0277 scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A very (too?) Accessible and easy to drink malt, with roundness and finesse.
    • Nose
      87 87
Vanilla, honey, citrus, flowers .... Lots of things but you have to look for them. Everything is rather melted, without exuberance but rather shy too.
    • Taste
      87 87
Round, on vanilla, coconut, some fruit from the orchard. Alcohol does not attack at all.
    • Finish
      86 86
      Rather short

  5. Rom did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

Relatively little expressive, cereals, vanilla, apricot. The palate is sweet on apricot. Final slightly bitter. Way.

A nicely crafted whisky, very consistent without any faults. That also makes it a bit boring. I can see why this is a whisky used for blending.
    • Nose
Lots of citrus and grapefruit, accompanied by oak and vanilla. Also some sweet melon, but then it gets more grassier, wet hay. Some spices appear after a while with cumin and cinnamon. A very fresh nose.
    • Taste
More vanilla and oak, with some coconut as well. Fairly dry and bitter with some added citrus, orange and mandarine. Tastes like you'd expect after that fresh nose, except for maybe the bitterness.
    • Finish
Medium in length with some oakiness, nutmeg, citrus. Slightly bitter.

  8. magic_slim scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Very good Glen Spey, definitely above average from this distillery.
    • Nose
Fresh and flowery at first nosing. Becomes sweeter and fruity after a while - lovely sweet tropical fruits - papaya, mango. A very nice  nose.
    • Taste
Completely different than expected from the nose. Toffee and slightly bitter chocolate with 80% cacao. Oaky with oranges in the background.
    • Finish
Medium long - with the aromas from the palate lingering on.

Fresh and fruity nose, with plenty of citrus fruits/orange peel alongside ginger snaps, vanilla, cinnamon and hay. Also quite robust alcohol neat, tamed by a few drops of water. Peppery, spicy and woody on the palate, but without drifting towards bitterness. Medium-length, spicy finish.
