    Blind tasting.
    • Nose
Very full with spices, briny - salt and some honey. Vanille - custard, wax and some smoke.
    • Taste
Wax, pine resin, vegetal and fruity - nectarines and peach. Ashes, spices, bread, pastry and some wax.
    • Finish
Medium drying with citrus, pastry and aniseed. Fruity, grains, some ashes, vanilla and fudge.

  6. Defeatless scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nose: Fruit and flowers. citrus notes. Waxy notes, as in Clynelish. Some toffee notes, smells thick...

Initial taste: some citrus. Quite complex. Malt and yeast. Some sweetness from the oak.

Body: yeah this is it! Nice and waxy mouthfeel.

Finish: medium - long. Citrus comes on and on. so does a flowery note.

    Price: fairly priced

Presentation: decent as always with The Ultimate.

  7. Toffie76 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Floral, lemony, ginger, clove, mineral. The addition of water reinforces the lemon / vanilla side.
    • Taste
Very pleasant. A real aperitif whisky. The ideal starter. A bit linear and not very complex, but for once, it does not matter. Easy drinkable, and that's fine.
    • Finish
      Short, fruity and malty

  8. Bishlouk scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Linear, standard, lack of punch and complexity; but pleasant and drinkable without asking any questions.
    • Nose
Nose first dusty (but this dust quickly fades), then flowers, lemon, dry stone and vanilla.
    • Taste
Monolithic mouth on the fruits, it is round and easily drinkable.
    • Finish
Short final on the fruits, very slightly acidic.

  9. KayMeertens scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Could have mistaken this one for a Clynelish, especially the nose. In comparison to casks 50134 and 50339, this is the waxiest and also the best one.
    • Nose
Honey, lime, beeswax, vanilla, marzipan and caramel.
    • Taste
Caramel, honey, waxy tent cloth, almond, lime and pencil shavings.
    • Finish
Honey, lime, caramel and almond. A slightly musty nuttiness like chestnuts as well, but in no way disturbing.
