  1. dramspotter scored this whisky 76 points Connoisseur

I tried this 2 years ago and was very underwhelmed but this time I gave it a more proper attention and this paid dividends. Competent, fruity young FF bourbon. Recommended if you like your berry fruits in a whisky
    • Nose
smells like a FFBB; bit of a fruity berry smell - soft lemon
    • Taste
like the blackcurrant zingyness of SMWS 9.109
    • Finish
medium; some mildly sweet berry fruit, then goes a similar dryness as 9.109

  3. ARDBERG did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    SMWS UK Tasting Panel:

The nose was powdered with garden fragrances (lemon balm, fresh grass, flowers, herbs, saplings); we also found orange oil, sandalwood and leather – and some lovely appetizing aromas that increased with water – gingerbread, chocolate orange, vanilla, toffee apple, caramel, butterscotch and crème Anglaise. The palate was also appetizing, but in a dark, pungent way: our taste-buds tantalized by sherry, sweet coconut, mocha, chilli chocolate, cardamom and clove. Adding water sweetened it – the rich, syrupy soft caramel and toffee over a baked biscuit base dominating more delicate apple, thyme and angelica. This sample, from the Spey near Carron seemed older than its years.

  4. John Barleycorn did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    SMWS (New Zealand) Tasting

Colour:  ‘one ring to rule them all’
    Nose: The nose
offers a fun little dance of sweet & savoury notes: Squid ink, jam roll,
raspberry coulis with whipped cream, anchovies on Scotch-Finger biscuits, and
freshly cut apples with sprinkles of salt. It’s very mouth-watering and

    Palate: An
expanding wave of flavour, warmth, and delight advances over your palate and
through your torso like a marching army! It’s all very bright and bold, offering
rich, sweet malt that is beautifully textured by oak. Mince pies, jack melon,
chinotto, and yummy toasty bourbon-oak notes abound, i.e. good, hard toffee.

    Finish: Long,
syruppy oak that is drying and sensual - demanding another sip!

    Comments: A joy
to drink! It goes down so easily and is delightful every step - it’s refined,
smooth, sophisticated and professional….the Daniel Craig of bourbon casks? The
flavour moves slowly and inexorably through one’s palate. Loads of oak here,
but it’s gentle and never treads on the malt. Balance and harmony, with a hint
    of mystery!
