White Horse Blended Scotch Whisky 40%.

30ml sample from a modern bottling, I believe.

    Dark golden yellow.

Aroma is a little furry, old dried apple chips, slightly gassy, some cheap toffee sweets, toffee eclairs.

Taste is toasted bread, peppery, dark wood, some neutral spirit vs peppery bready spirit, not smoky as such but very peppery.

A good BSW. Quite one dimensional but very enjoyable. Would happily knock back a fair amount of this. Great value blend. I'm sure a lot comes down to the particular bottling though. 3.5/84B

That's where it all began, maybe that's why I overestimate a little, it's not worth drinking in its pure form, but it can, not bad for its segment.

Pretty decent for a cheaper basic blend and actually a favourite in it's price range (up to € 15). A mild amount of smoke, some citrus, vanilla, toffee and dusty caramel. The latter is also it's major flaw. There's so much colourant in this you can actually taste it.

    Quite fair and enjoyable.
    • Nose
Slight peaty note, malty, hay, vanilla
    • Taste
Feels weak and flat but at the same time has some body and is rather chewy, as contradictory as it may sound. Pepper, salty tang, and of course vanilla.
    • Finish
      short - slight peatiness; dry

not completely bad, drinkable in a sense, needs water to drown the E150, sweet, citrus-y, malt, slightly bitter finish (nothing offensive), sadly i can't detect the slightest hint of Lagavulin :(

A very solid, peat-influenced blend.  The Lagavulin that is in this blend is very young, and asserts itself in a much milder way than I would have expected.  There is a malty sweetness to this blend that at times offers an almost bourbon-like profile.  However, the sweetness is well-balanced with the peat smoke notes, and makes White Horse a very traditional, classic blended Scotch in every sense.
    • Nose
Citrus, orange marmalade/Grand Marnier, salt, with some malt and peat.
    • Taste
Light, cut grass, hay, honey, and wet, mossy peat with smoke.
    • Finish
Short and fresh, with lingering oak, vanilla, caramel, and saltine crackers.  A faint hint of smoke.

Very good blend well balanced between honey, fruits and a sweet smoke.
