Whisky Reviews for Glengoyne 2000 BR

6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.65 points

  1. LeChiffre scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A wonderful aromatic sherry barrel matured malt without being overlaid by the sherry barrel. A perfect and exciting interplay of fruity sweetness and tingling oak flavor, ideally with a few splashes of water. A wonderful, well-matured single cask bottling.
    • Nose
      89 89
Sherry note without appearing overlapping; Caramel; Nougat; great fresh-sweet ripe fruit of red berries and orange notes; in the background the delicate spiciness of the oak; Adding water removes the slightly alcoholic sharpness and it becomes even more fruity; very exciting, you can smell it forever
    • Taste
      88 88
full, sweet and syrupy; lots of caramel and chocolate notes; very fruity in the mouth too; Oranges; in addition there is a great integrated oak wort
    • Finish
      88 88
very long; sweet and spicy in a beautiful interplay; the oak wort becomes more intense and tingling without becoming bitter; dark chocolate; delicate herbal notes

For me a super horny thing. Unfortunately my bottle is empty now. :-(
    • Nose
Full load of sherry. Oak joins. Caramel and chocolate (Mars bars). Sweet, juicy red berries. Alcohol easily cools the nose. Fits but great.
    • Taste
Full, sweet sherry bang. Very fruity with lots of caramel and chocolate. There it is again, the Mars bar. Some oak flavor completes the story. Very creamy in the mouth. The creaminess occupies the entire mouth.
    • Finish
Long and very sweet. The whole taste notes stay very long.

  3. Immerenga scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Surprisingly smooth and overall really nice whisky. Despite the young age, it´s got some woody influences without having one key dominating flavour / taste. Some tiny peppery notes in the finish.

  4. Murxus scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

I had my bottle long for 89 pts., now graded up to 90 pts., without doubt despite its relatively young age a impressive developed Glengoyne. Pronounced very sweet cereals, with the adequate spicyness for a good balance. Keeps its intense flavours and creamy mouthfeeling even if diluted (which benefits the nose).

  5. Bona scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

Very round cask, the sherry does not crush the gentle distillery character. Despite 54% very creamy and round. Beautiful oak fruit game in the mouth. A beautiful UA Glengoyne.

A very well aged whisky indeed. Very aromatic with a perfect balance of
sweetness and spice. The sherry casks didn't overpower the distillery
    character of this syrupy beauty.

    • Nose
Lovely aromas of treacle toffee and gentle red apples. Sweetness of ripe
fruit with a whiff of sherry and subtle nougat. Superbly fresh and
vibrant with a touch of oak and lingering spiciness.
    • Taste
Deep and rich with lots of lingering treacle toffee and caramel,
complemented by sweet sherry and baked red apples. The fruity sweet
palate is perfectly balanced by fine herbal notes and soft oak tannins
with a spicy tail. Very creamy, almost syrupy on the tongue. Delicious.
    • Finish
Long, sweet and warm. Very syrupy with hints of dark chocolate, herbs and dry oak spice in the finish.

WITH WATER: There's more sherry on the nose, sweet and round. Softer
and more creamy on the palate with tamed spices. The finish is long,
sweet and still warm. Extremely delicate.
