I can only think to describe this whisky as"tidy". Everything is presented in an orderly and timely fashion. It feels like there's a schedule and checklist and unseen practice.

"By the numbers" could fit too, but only if you mean it as a positive.

    Still, not exactly inspiring, either.

The nose was still painfully shy after 20 minutes, with only the heather, wood and marker at all apparent, until I warmed the glass in my hands. Once open, it willingly listed the rest of the limited but logical contents and it all kind of made sense:

    • Decent spirit to start of with

    • Aged in Bourbon (nothing too active)

    • Had a chance to settle down.

    • No fuck ups.

It's a bit young at heart, with the cereal note in the nose and the vapors on the tongue, but the leather and controlled spices, balance against the carefully parcelled sweetness and speak to its true age, so it never actually does taste youthful.

The tail is just a hair too short in the way it makes me want to taste it again immediately.

I feel like it's the kind of whisky I could drink a lot of without realising.
